2009 bottle. Aroma is funky cherry. Flavor is strongly cherry, some funk, barnyard, with a tart and sour finish. The end is just a little harsh, with a bit of mustiness and hint of cough syrup flavor coming through. Cherry flavor throughout. A very well done American kriek-style ale.

Reddish brown, biege head. Smells like cherry, oak, vinegar (in a good way), and Red wine. Really good. Cherry and oak and lemony sour. I could drink this all day...

750ml bottle. Cascade Kriek pours a deep hazy red with a 1 finger off white head which settles down to a thin lacing over time. Big sour nose with the lactic acid in the forefront with sour cherries resting in the back. A touch of band aid comes across as the beer warms. Very tart body with mouth puckering sourness throughout. Big sour cherry notes up front with some lemon / citrus tartness on the sides. The oak barrels come through a bit over the mouth. Tart finish with the oak really coming through on the top of the mouth followed by more intense sour cherries. This one really makes your eyes water and scrapes your palate clean. Pucker up!

09 750. Nice cherry looking body. Some sour with taste of cherry subdued so you are not getting a cherry pie bomb. Aroma is not intense. Little cough syrup in the nose, but nothing bad. Nice.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 otakuden (1490) - Vero Beach, USA - JAN 31, 2011
Appearance: ruddy cherries with the deep hues of cherry skins and plum skins. Rusty red head fades into a bubbly collar with a few thin patches floating inbetween. Swirls with a thicker rusty collar, no chance in head.
Nose: tart and tart. Tart black cherries, red cherries, wild cherries. Pits, stems and skins in the back. Sweet then sour for a red vinaigrette touch. Funky nutty pitty moldy quality underneath. Overall very bright and vivacious. Raw red rhubarb. Must, vinous, old wooden barrels collecting dust in a shed.
Palate: sweet and tart are inseparable and uniquely their own at the same time. Low mild pinpoint carbonation carries flavors exquisitely. Tingles atop tongue and on down sides of cheeks. Meatiness to her middle with cherry flesh. Skins and stems along sides and in the back. Plums join the cherries, but few and far between compared to the cherry onrush. Rhubarb leads into red vinaigrette then into young musty red wine, homemade, with bits n pits n stems. Top of tongue and back of throat are loving each quaff. Sticky lips. Beautiful.
Final Thoughts: a wee bit of Belgium in America for my personal pleasure. To date, the Kriek from Cascade is the closest to a real Belgium Lambic I have tasted in the USofA.

Bottle. Pour was a hazy shade of winter (i mean reddish/brown). Aromas of cherry, yeast, and other wood berries. The taste is dry and crisp with great cheery notes. Not overly bitter/sour. This was my first Kriek and I’m diggin’ it....
