Quake1028 (625), Tampa, Florida, USA Mar 16, 2008 Courtesy of Degarth. Thank you, sir.
This one made my nether regions tingle when I saw it a week before the tasting....garnet red pour with a huge pink head, mostly lasting....some nice drip lacing....nose is sour cherries, vinegar, oak, tart apples and some nice funkiness....medium bodied, soft carbonation makes everything easy to drink....a building acidity wells in the back of the throat....sour cherry mash, cherry candy, horseblanket, vinegar and oak make up the flavor composition....lengthy, tart, cherry filled finish, with a earthy backing from the oak....I don’t know how these Raccoon’s learned to brew, or where they got the money for a Lodge and Brewpub, but I hope they keep this up....I freaking LOVED this beer....
jjpm74 (2760), Connecticut, USA Jul 21, 2008 Courtesy of 5000. Pours red with some white bubbles. Smells of cherries, oak, some residual sugar. Tastes tarte and fruity. Decent. The_Epeeist (892), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 12, 2008 25.4 oz bottle. Magenta brown with a bone froth and tiny active surface carb. Nose is woody cherry with a touch of earth. Lightish body with refreshing, semi-sparkling carb. Taste is sour cherry and jam. A tad muted but nicely softened to make this highly drinkable. ChainGangGuy (1457), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Jun 21, 2008 Appearance: Pours an opaque, garnet-hued body with a thin, ivory-colored head.
Smell: Fine aroma smelling of pound cake, slight oaky notes, and simply teeming with cherry goodness.
Taste: Plenty of juicy cherry flavor with a light flourish of acidity and a thin vein of sweetness. Handful of cake crumbs. Delicate oaken character throughout. Long, fruity finish with a faint hint of vanilla.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Moderate carbonation.
Drinkability: Quite nice! Pleasantly fruity and all kinds of refreshing. I certainly enjoyed this one more than I thought I would. CaptainCougar (4601), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jun 20, 2008 Bottle thanks to 11026: Pours a transparent ruby copper with a frothy, nicely-lacing light tan head with pinkish hues. Aroma of fresh sour cherries and oak with lightly sweet fruity complexity. Body starts with a slightly oily palate, effervescent carbonation and nice sweet and sour fruity cherry balance with oaky complexity toward the drier finish. Could use a little more body, but still a nice, very drinkable sour ale. Styles (1653), Taylor, Michigan, USA May 27, 2008 Bottle from 11026. Hazy dirty red, highly carbonated. Aroma is rather muted cherry, vanilla, oak. Flavor is almost alco-pop. Cherry sweetness up front, faint oak/woodiness through the middle. Carbonation really cleans the palate. Decent overall.
