Bottle from Sondra. Amber color with a decent off-white head. Rich, lightly roasted, malt aroma. Medium in body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is roasty malty sweet, with a little accompanying bitter. The finish is sort of creamy sweet with a little backing bitter. Very pleasant and quaffable brown ale. Might be a good session ale.

IBU 35. Tasted in a frozen mug. As much copper in color as brown. Aroma is very mellow if not faint. No head to speak of. Light nutty flavor that fades into a pretty decent aftertaste. Not as smooth as, say, Newcastle Brown, but not very hoppy either. All in all, a satisfying brown ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Had a mild hop aroma, probably from the centennial. Color was a dark clear brown. Taste was mediocre and not too complex. Fades into an unruly hoppy bitterness in the finish.

A chewy mouthfeel and a very grainey appearance are my first impressions of this beer. It was also my last of the night, so my palate was really feeling stretched. A very big malt component, with some sweet and rich caramel flavors, with just a hint of nuttiness and honey. Very light roastedness, and somewhat watery towards the finish, this one starts out strong and ends kind of bland and boring. Not a beer for stamina.

Sample taster at John’s Market Place. Nose of roastiness, caramel, and a cocoa hint. Clear brown with a medium beige head. Flavor was caramel maltiness with only a hint of bitterness.

Aroma of nutty malt sweetness. Clear chestnut brown with very little head. Slightly medium-thin mouthfeel. Malty with a little medicine. Chewy for the thin mouthfeel. Not bad.

Draft - Sweet roasted malts with a clear dark amber hue and nice persistent head. Nice malty notes with a balanced bitterness. A nice brown if not plain.
