COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
If you’ve visited Bend’s pub-centric Westside or rode the nearby trails, you’ve seen the Phoenix Rising. In the same creative and inventive spirit, we offer IRA. Inspired by the IPA category, this ale is high in hops and caramel flavors from Munich and crystal malts. Cheers to artists like Frank Boyden who’ve made Bend a bit more colorful. Grains: 2-Row, Munich, Crystal Hops: Warrior, Willamette, Cascade & German Tettnager Available: Jun 1 – Sept 1 Available seasonally in 12 oz bottles, draft

22 oz bottle from Roth’s Vista Market in Salem. $3.99 Seems to be a little old Clear amber body to the ale, nice thick and creamy eggshell white coloured head. Good spicy/grapefruit aromas, caramel malts to the fore. Very balanced taste of caramel and spicy hop..little chocolate and nut also. Palate is nice, its low carbonated and smooth though semi dry at the very end. Actually not a bad beer..simple but i dig it.

somewhere between an amber and an ipa. too hoppy for one, too light for the other, though a pleasant enough beer overall. balanced and lightly floral.

Wonderfully intriguing. Truly half parts red ale and IPA. The maltiness that starts is all red ale flavor, but without the instringency that I find sometimes in that style. Then, the flavor profile shifts to IPA -- a bit of resiny hops, with a requisite amount of bitterness. Kudos for imagination, and successful execution.

Decent to pretty good. Mild sweet and hoppy aroma. Cloudy, almost dirty amber color. Not the most attractive beer. Palate was somewhat heavy but smooth. Carbonation was good. Good blend of caramel maltiness with a subtle but strong bitterness that flowed through each sip. Good first impression of the brewery.

Bottle. Had this a few times now. Nice and malty up front with a pleasant and full hopped up red in the back. Good and properly priced brew.

22oz bottle in Seattle. Deep orange, creamy body. Sweet orange candy malt aroma, carries through to the main flavor which is hard orange candy, something artificial about it. Juicy hops and caramel medium malts add up to a strange beer with big juicy alcohol. Tasty enough, but doesn’t quite add up.

Bottle in Hood River. Nice simple red ale that was a real easy drinker. Would have this again.

7-28-13 poured from bomber with my buddy Josh. Good malts. Dark orange color. Some hops. Slight sense of overripe orange. White head reduces down. 8.4 BD; 8.9 Josh; 9.19 Joek

Bottle. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Hoppy and with some caramel notes. Good IPA but a little bit watery.

Bottle:   Dirty caramel, moderate frothy sandy head, nice lacing.   Pale hoppy nose, slightly floral with tea leaves.   Fairly bright on the nose.   Pale hoppiness on the tongue, mild sweetness, a little sweet citrus peel and tea leaves.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   A little musty hop finish, tea leaves, pale citrus peel, a little pith.   Not as biting as one would think for an IPA.   Its like a cross between a Pale Ale and an IPA.   Thankfully not overly bitter or harsh.   Not bad, sessionable, but not as bright on the tongue as I would have liked for an IPA.

Overall just average, but it is tasty, and you can run through quite a few of them pretty quick.
