4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 kutellad99 (1) - Bend, Oregon, USA - NOV 12, 2001 does not count
This is an excellent, well balanced beer. It represents the ’golden’ category very well. It may be hard to find now as it is only in central Oregon, but keep your eyes peeled as it moves towards Portland.

Medium gold color, medium head. A medium bodied golden ale. Fairly malty and somewhat hoppy. Lots of flavor. Bit of a hop bite for a golden ale. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. A little bit over carbonated.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 beerinmarch (2830) - Washington, USA - APR 30, 2004
#554 on my beerwall. Ok beer, nice label though. Light golden color with very little head. Citrus tastes as well as a little hops here and there, mostly a malty taste comes through. Not much aroma. Hope the porter will be better.
3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 bpreo (992) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - JAN 6, 2012
Rooster Tail Ale’s label shows a man surfing an ocean wave. Is a Rooster Tail a surfing term? And if so, why is a central Oregon brewery putting a surfer dude on their label? Redmond Oregon is two mountain ranges, one river valley, two national forests, and 200 miles from the ocean.
P.S. The beer is good.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 11026 (1772) - Alabama, USA - APR 10, 2006
Bottle. Light amber colored, just barely more than golden, clear. Small white head that fades quickly and leaves no lacing to speak of. Aroma is a bit muted, some caramel, earthy hop? Medium to light bodied. Rather pleasant for the style I thought. Decent body, fair balance and a nice enough hop presence at the finish to make it interesting.

Clear gold body with a nicely laced white head, hoppy aoma, sweet malty flavor with a nice dull hop finish, refreshing citrus notes in the finish, underated pale, but if i went to high school with the rooster on the label I would have really made fun of him and pushed him into his locker on the days that I would have worn my letterman jacket.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Angeloregon (2054) - Portland, Oregon, USA - NOV 19, 2007
Poured a golden-copper body with an average white head. Fair lacing. Grainy, bready nose of an English beer with slightly more hops. Finishes mildly sweet but a bit watery and weak. Still, a very sessionable brew.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Reid (1434) - Salem,Oregon, Oregon, USA - MAY 16, 2004
Served on tap at "The Lodge" , Bend ,OR.
The beer is a slightly hazy, deep golden colour. Small pure white head, minimal laceing.
Not a strong aroma..I can detect some hops but not much going on.
Tastes actually like a slightly hoppy Golden Ale rather than a Pale..good malt and hop balance, but the hoppiness swings it in the end.
Very nice on the palate..good.
Quite a quaffable ale on tap..I hear its not so good in the bottle.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Gromit (479) - Port Orchard, Washington, USA - FEB 28, 2004
This beer calls itself a Golden Ale. As such it's not bad. As a Pale it's not nearly as good.
Pours a cloudy gold with a decent head that leaves behind a respectable lace.
Smells weak. There's a hint of oranges and hops.
Tastes okay. Quite malty, actually, with a definate hop presence but not enough to balance it. There's some serious citrus flavors but they're muddled with a bready taste.
Mouthfeel is creamy. Drinkability is pretty good as it's not offensive at all.
The more I think about it the more it reminds me of a subdued Lagunitas #10. Granted, that's the last beer I had before this one, but I can't help but to note the similarities. This isn't nearly as fruity but they're quite similar.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 hayduke (2531) - Eureka, California, USA - MAR 20, 2007
Picked this up in Ashland, Oregon. Poured from a 12 oz bottle a nice golden color with a nice fat white head and decent lacing. Nose of malts and hops, with some citrus. Palate was smooth and flavors mostly malts. Good finish, with malts and hips in good balance.
