COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Manhattan NW, a NW style sour ale that was, until recently, a secret. It’s a blend of Blond Quad aged in Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels on 150 pounds of sour pie cherries for five months before additionally aging on apricot noyaux for three months. Aromas of cherries, Bourbon, sweet candy and hints of spice are noticed up front. Tart cherry skins and Maraschino cherries on the palate lead to a dance of rich cherry notes that are followed by slight Bourbon sweetness. Much like the process to make fission, the steps involved here are greater than the sum of their parts. What isn’t a secret? At 11.32% ABV, you’re going to need a designated driver

Pours a redish copper color with lots of sediment and small bubbles floating around. No head retention at all, resembles a Manhattan very well. Smells like oak, vanilla, sour cherries, vinegar and a bit of char. Maraschino cherries are the first thing on the tongue, followed by a good bit of vinegar sourness and bourbon vanilla sweetness. The finish is a mix of dry tart cherries and a very mild bourbon barrel heat. It is very dry, little champagne like bubbles to it, that leaves a bit of sweetness lingering on the palate. This beer was amazing, a great mix of sweet and sour, fruit and whiskey. The abv was hidden well and the beer was executed to perfection

I obtained this bottle in a trade with a great trader @thebeerprophet. Brought this to a bottle share at Proof. Pours a hazy very dark peach color. Good amount of head on the first pour that dissipated fairly quickly. Second pour got more head than the first. Nice medium white collar. Aroma is very earthy/woody and sweet-tart cherry blend. Taste is amazing. Very similar to the aroma, with some of the caramel/wood coming out. Mouthfeel is viscous for a sour; like chewing an overripe marischino cherry. Nice carbonation despite the low head. Pretty thick body. So glad I traded for this to share with good people.

750 mL bottle poured and shared. Much thanks to Erika. Pours A dark, thick, cloudy amber color with a quick fading head. Huge cherry pie aroma. Very nice. Flavor is very intense sour cherry flavor. Liquid cherry pie. Huge pucker on this one. Another incredible beer from these guys. Loved it.

Bottle generously shared by Seth. Reddish brown pour with a white head. Cherry and barrel aromas. Delicious cherry, stone fruits, and assorted berries blend seamlessly with rich caramel malts, vanilla, and oak notes. Complex with a superb mouthfeel. The ABV is totally hidden. Another stunner from the Cascade crew......

Poured 2011 from bottle to glass. Hazy orange hue with fizzy white head that dissipates. Aroma is cherries, oak, sugar, lactic, spice. Mouthfeel is great with a medium light body and great carbonation. Taste is dry throughout with a tart slightly astringent following and ethanol in the finish. Overall this is a great oaky sour brew!

Pours murky red with thin, quickly dissipating head. Aroma if cherry, bourbon, apricot, currants. Taste is very complex with maraschino and sour cherry flavors, apricot, oak, bourbon, vanilla sweetness. Moderately tart. Mouthfeel is more full than most sours. Overall amazing sour. Very under rated. I've had many Cascade sours and this is top 2 for sure. I should have bought another bottle ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Taste at RBNG. Thanks, Adam! Pours light brown with hardly a bubble. Aroma of dark cherry, leather, vanilla caramel. Very delicious, taste is mostly perfectly tart cherry.

2011 project bottle. Pours a murky Amber with a quickly disappearing head. Active carbonation. Aromas of cherry, oak but no bourbon. Taste is tart and off dry. Prickling carbonation. Flavors of sour cherries, some stone fruit. Very mouth puckering. No alcohol detected. Pretty dry and tart finish. Love this shit.

750, corked and baled. Pours a murky dark brown with a scant white head that goes away right away. Enormous oaky nose, almost balsa wood, sweet and tasty. Cherries and apricots dancing. Creamy medium body with soft carb. Oak and fruit and tart pucker on the mid palate. Balanced and layered and effortlessly harmonious...everything that separates a beer and marks it as truly great, it’s all happening here. This is magic.

Bottle shared thanks to mverity! Pours a hazy golden orange with fluffy off-white head that dissipates to leave moderate lace. Aroma is lactic sourness, earthy musk, sweet cherries, and whiskey. Taste is funky sour awesomeness, wow. Odd but great, bubbly carbonation, lasting sweetness. Amazing, no idea at all it was that high of an abv.
