COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This NW style sour triple ale was barrel aged for over eight months, then additionally aged on Apricot noyaux (kernels) for four weeks. You’ll notice sweet marzipan and toasted almond notes with hits of maraschino cherries up front. Sweet almonds and candy on the palate lead to a rich, sweet, lingering mouthfeel that ends with a prolonged maraschino cherry note. This is a super version of the pure Noyaux experience, with nearly 4.5 lbs of Apricot noyaux in this one barrel.

From the barrel at Cascade, Portland - 07/11/12. Lightly hazed mid amber with a very thin white head that soon clears to the edges. Nose is bog on almond, ameretto booze, marzipan truffles, light wood. Taste follows, again big on almond, touch of wood. Full bodied beer with soft/limited carbonation leading to a tarte and sour finish. Decent sour/wild but a little hooked on the marzipan/almond flavour, could have been slightly better tempered!

On tap at Cascade Brewing, pours a hazy darkish orange with a small bubbly beige head. Aroma of pungent almond extract, artificial sweetness and shortbread cookies. Flavour of slightly sweetened and soured almond extract, with a boozy, almond extract finish. A cool experiment, but not exactly enjoyable. The nose is much more pleasant than the flavour. OK.
