Tap at the brewpub. Pours purple/reddish/berry/copper with a creamy pinkish head. Medium body with foamy carbonation. It is definitely a sour (based on balck berry-12 months in oak - 6 months with berries). It is berry sour. There’s astringent oak. It’s wonderful.

A wine red ale with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, a superb sweet lactic berry with sweet wine, light Brett, very nice. In mouth, a nice kriek like ale with nice epsom salt, black currant, light but refreshing. Excellent. On tap at brewpub July 31 2011.

Growler… This beer rocks!… Clear, beautiful ruby ale with a small, creamy, off-white/pinkish head. Smells like a blackberry SweetTart, if there were such a thing - tart and fruity (berries). Medium-bodied and caustic with lively carbonation. The flavor totally lives up to the aroma – tart and fruity (berries) with just a whisper of butter. Finishes tart, acerbic, and then Mojave-dry. Kudos to GoT for sharing his growler of this world class beer!

On tap at Avery Sour Fest poured aclear garnet with a lasting pinkish head. Aromas of blackberry, barnyard funk, light oak and light spice. Palate was light to medium bodied and crisp with lightly dry tart finish. Flavors of blackberry, oak, some barnyard funk and a hint of spice with a crisp lightly dry lingering tart fruity finish.

On tap at Sourfest. Pours with a vibrant, hazy purple to red body with a small white head. Aromas of berries, caramelization, balsamic vinegar, tannins, oak, red wine, bubble gum. Lots of fruity esters. Flavors of manure, chlorophenols, funk, berries. Not very bright. Funky, earthy, sour, berry juice, a bit watery. Thin, light bubbles, very dry, tannic and woody. While very tasty, not as good as I was expecting.

Woodshop 5.0 Ruby/pink pour, fluffy white head. Cheesy aroma with some berries and wood. Flavor is sour and mix of some sweet berries. Oaky and a bit odd. A bit of butter notes and something else odd. But highly enjoyable for sure.

Draft pour @ Brouwer’s Sour Fest 2009. Burnt plum purple colored body, moderately cloudy with a visually striking purple and dark pink head - beautiful presentation. Chalky, dusty drywall strikes the nose - the blackberry character is jammy but what seems like the lacto and pedio character is minerally/chalky/dusty/powder-like, and on the tongue and palate it’s sloppily dry/chalky/rough. Could benefit from slightly more sweetness and perhaps more natural blackberry tartness, but not to the level of the previous fruit-focused Cascade Blackberry (this is in fact *nothing* like that one). Tart more than acidic, but certainly rough and unkempt. Casutic at times, with a surprisingly thin and weak texture in the finish - no chewiness/frothiness/fullness to round it out.
