3.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the brewery’s Raccoon Lodge. Amber color with white head. There is a spiciness to this beer that I can’t describe but there is nothing I would compare to a stout and nothing that approaches coffee. I asked the bartender and he explained that they are using a different coffee, a Sumatra Lintong, which has different characteristics from the coffee previously used. This beer is easy to drink with an interesting almost peppery flavor, but it’s not a stout and not coffee. Tasty nonetheless.

Hell yes on this one! Nice gold pour, white head. Flavor hits with a creamy coffee note and it lingers throughout the glass. I was really impressed with this. Cool as hell.

Tap at Cascade. Blonde coffee stout FTW. Pours a clear gold with low carbonation and spotty lacing. Nose is big, rich coffee. Taste is richer, spicy coffee, hazelnut, African robust coffee bite and gaminess. Clean, coffee stout palate. Liked.

Cloudy honey color. Nose is toasty and sweet with a big creamy espresso nose. Lots of creamy coffee and sweetness. With a very dry finish

Clear golden with a finger off white head.
Smell huge coffee roast.
Taste nutty roasty and coco, a lot like a brown ale.
Light to med body.
Trippy but good.

Draft at Wayward. Pours a hazy medium gold with a loose white head. Rich coffee bean nose, toasty caramel and a slight vegetal quality (not a flaw at all) from the coffee beans. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Rich coffee presence blended perfectly with a light and refreshing full-flavored blond ale that’s not really light and refreshing anymore--it’s richer and more interesting. Nothing quite like it. Great stuff.

Looks like a pale ale. Tastes and smells like a stout. Pale amber with white head. Aroma is coffee and roast malt. Flavour is coffee with malt and a slight hop note. Long coffee finish. This is one these beers that only Cascade would make.

On draught at Raccoon Lodge. Deep golden blonde color. Aroma of a really great iced coffee with some light malted notes. Taste is still iced coffee, but with addition of cream, a sugar malt element, and a tinge of fruit. Surprising beer with a really great flavor and finish.

So confusing. It shouldn’t look like that whilst smelling like THAT. The coffee is wonderful and perfectly balanced. Woody, earthy, very fruity. Mellow finish. Impressive

On tap at the Barrel House.
A: Golden color with a thin white lacing. Semi-transparent. It certainly looks like a blonde ale, so it summons up different expectations.
N: Lots of coffee in the nose. Roasted malt and a rye grain. Sweet whipped cream and a healthy dose of pine from the hops. Nothing overly complex, but it works.
T: Very much like a stout. Roast with a moderate amount of bitterness and a good amount of sweetness to round things out. Straightforward.
M: Dry with a rounded mouthfeel.
O: A fascinating concept and a solid execution. I wouldn’t drink this all day and every day, but I can certainly appreciate how it was pulled off.
