COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Northwest-style sour ale is a red rye that was barrel-aged for 11 months, then aged on Italian plums. Rich notes of dark plums, rye and dark caramels greet you in the nose. Dark dried plums and fruit on the palate lead to sweet, dry plum notes in the finish with hints of smoke and peat late.

On draught at Cascade Barrel House. 2011 vintage. Tart aroma. Prune, dark malt, and a good dose of sourness. Could finish a little less puckery.

Tap at Barrel House. Pours to a deep mahogany body with a white head. The aroma is super plum with some sort of subtle grain. The flavors are overly plum with subtle earth on the long finish. Palate is sweet and medium bodied.

Tap at the Barrel House - live from the barrel - pours still - cloudy purple - nose of oak, plum, leather and spices - slick, almost oily in the mouth - a bit of buttery diacetyl and vegetal character up front - this is followed by some spicy character, toffee - then the sourness kicks in - cherry skin, oak, spice - the approach is flawed, but the finish is nice - tastes like they made a Scottish ale they weren’t happy with, so they soured it - meh.
