Sasparilla body with decent head. Nicely tart nose, not much roast detectable. Body is fairly horsey and gets bogged down a bit too much in the Brett for my liking. Although dark, the roasting is entirely absent. Far too sour and unbalanced.

3.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Gooney (297) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAY 12, 2012
On tap at Raccoon Lodge - Poured in a snifter. Black with a very thin white head. Looks a little bland, actually. Smells quite sour. Others may like this, but it isn’t my cup of tea, so to speak. It did taste pretty decent, though. Smooth drinking, and roasted malt stuck out.

Why mess with a good thing? The nose here has some beautiful yeast and herbal character and the palate is a lazy, roasted mess. Saison can be saison without "black" and all other accoutrements.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 after4ever (4500) - Brier, Washington, USA - JAN 6, 2012
Draft at special brews. Pours slow and black with a dense and creamy tan head. Kinda fizzy. Pleasant plummy chocolatey nose. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Chocolate and tangy plums on the mid palate, but not exceptionally pronounced in intensity of flavor. Seems just a bit fruity sweet at first. Mild tangy sweet finish.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 pantanap (2838) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 22, 2011
Cascade saison Minuit. On rap at the barrel room.. pours a darker shade of cola hue with a thin light beige head... Aroma of soft chocolate tones, a hint o roast, flowed up by fruity yeast. The former takes emphasis in this one... Very soft roast and more typical saison Belgian yeast and fruity aspects. Somewhat lively carbonation and lighter bodied.

draft. mild black patent licorice and smoke in the nose. light esters and phenols provide a soft black pepper and cream note. seems musty and chalky with burnt grains throughout. husky and sour (cream) but has better body and support than their other saisons.
