2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Without doubt the worst Aussie Stout. Way to watery and uneventful. More a ’bock’ or some shit, or welcome back to crap stoutsville. Me and Bardie’s homebrew kicks this one’s arse. Oh, and I have to warn grant60 that the phrase ’good stuff like swan’ defeats its own purpose. Peace.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Opaque brown with a smallish short lasting mid-tan head. Medium strong roasted malt and instant coffee aroma. Some fainter fruity sweet malt on glass swirl. Medium thin body, especially for a stout. Insufficient bitter to balance the predominant roasted sweetish malt and coffee flavours. Light bitter finish and aftertaste. Ok but lacks the overall smoothness and balance found in a good stout.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Has the appearance of a lighter stout, just dark brown, not the black hole effect of a real full bodied stout. Weak liquorice flavour can be tasted above the mediocre roast malt flavours. Light bodied, not nearly enough flavour to get your tastebuds jumping. Another Cascade let down.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Ink black, beige head. Moderate roast aroma. Sweetish, sugary flavour with a touch of roast malt. Not bad, probably just as good as Coopers Best Extra Stout.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Slightly medicinal, malty smell. Bitter coffee in extremely burnt taste. Bad aftertaste. Starts OK but left with poor impression.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
I must warn you, this isn’t for stout beginners, the aroma is of burnt leather and has a charred woody taste that stays in the palate. An aquired taste. If anything, memorable

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
UPDATED: APR 2, 2003 fizzy on the tongue, chocolatey body, a bit fizzy and thin for a stout, some light roastyness. A bit uninteresting.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Aroma’s of lavender and ice cream. Texture is thinner than Guinness. Flavours of dark chocolate, hints of Jamaican rum n’ raisins, ashes and leather with licorice delicious. No discernible head, stuff it . Good with vanilla ice cream.

2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
UPDATED: OCT 16, 2003 ok, i had this after finishing the overland track, not having had a beer for 6 days, having worked up a considerable thirst, and with a beautiful view of Lake St Clair - if context was ever going to help a beer this would be the time. But it sucked. head fizzled away immediately, the body was thin, flavours likewise thin and weak - international roast with a bit of hop. worst mainstream stout in australia.
