COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Fatty Appleton, a colourful brewery worker, was known for his ability to carry 2 Firkin barrels under his arms (yes, they’re known as Firkins). It’s a skill that would work as ’crowd control’ when things got out of hand at the local. Deep and rich in colour, Stout has a slightly nutty roasted flavour and chocolate characteristics, with a smooth and creamy body and pleasantly bitter after-taste. Fatty Appleton would approve!

Roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, light brown sugar in the aroma. Flavor is the same with a bit of bourbon. A bit bittersweet. While it wasn’t bad, it wasn’t all that good, either. Simple is it’s best quality.

375ml bottle. Poured with a thick and creamy thus lacing and lasting dark tan to light brown head atop a deep but clear dark brown, almost black, body. Rich dark chocolate, espresso and roasted malt characters across both aroma and to taste with a slight caramel and milk chocolate sweetness. Some dark, dried fruit notes in the mid-palate. Medium in body with soft to medium carbonation and a lengthy bitter malt finish. A competent, well-brewed and full-flavoured stout.

Pours a nice black, typical stout aroma’s of coffee, roasted malts and a roasty nuttiness. Taste. Mainly espresso coffee, and a slight dark chocolate flavour accompanied with a pleasant bitterness throughout. Overall. This beer just rates slightly above the crowd and is good for the price.

Pours a very dark brown. Smells of roasted malts and coffee. Has a slight sweet date of chocolate followed by coffee bitterness. Flavors are not very strong.

From 375 ml bottle. Pours a deep black with a thin tan head that collapses to a collar. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, cocoa nibs and a hint of dark fruit. Taste is dominated by black coffee with notes of chocolate also evident. However there’s an odd mineral note that’s out of kilter. Dark chocolate aftertaste. Certainly not bad, but not my favourite stout.

On tap at the brewery. Deep black in colour with a solid tan head. Aromas of roasted nuts and chocolate. Pleasantly bitter coffee after taste. Quite heavy with medium carbonation. One of cascade’s better efforts.

Deep black with generous mocha head. A very subtle aroma of roasted grain and chocolate. Flavours of roasted nuts and chocolate with a slight hint of coffee towards the end of the dry palate. Lacking in depth but an enjoyable beer from a big brewer.
