3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Fez (17) - - SEP 9, 2003
Not being a mad keen stout drinker, I was more than impressed when offered one of these. Consistently good brew that sneaks up on you after 8 or 10 pots.... One of the jewels in the Cascade Brewery crown.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 KeefOz (35) - Tarragindi, AUSTRALIA - MAY 27, 2012
Poured an opague black colour with a thin beige head that dissapated quickly. Initail aroma of burnt barley that quickly went to a chocloate f;avour. First taste was of burnt barley but this was quickly replaces but a subtle chocolate flavour. Medium to full bodied with a smooth and slightly sweet finish. Not a full on flavoured stout but quite nice.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jimthechap (795) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 23, 2012
Fairly dark in colour with a skim of mocha head that seems to be slowly dissipating. Good chocolate and slightly roasty aromas are apparent. Lightish body and a flavour that trends toward burnt caramels with lovely sherbet-like mouthfeel. This is a bit of a dark horse in the stout world. When you think of Cascade you think as a larger brewer it’ll skimp on the flavour, but this is patently not the case. While this beer isn’t the most complicated stout I will ever drink, it is eminently sessionable and has a good spicy orange finish. Reasonable price and a tasty drop which I shall be returning to time and again (and I love stout). Well done.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 omega (215) - NEW ZEALAND - MAR 30, 2012
Lighter style of stout. Subtle coffee notes and very little mouth feel make this an easy drinking beer.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 imaragingbull (346) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - OCT 14, 2011
UPDATED: DEC 30, 2011 Bottle. Pours Black with decent tan head and lace. Aromas of Coffee bean, milk, mocha, tar, grassy and floral hop notes and a decent choc roasty note. Med body complex malt profile, generous carbonation - med-high. Decent hop flavor, balanced with a toasty note and malty body finishing up a touch light.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Davros (1021) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JUN 20, 2011
Pours black with almost no head.
Big roasty aroma with coffee and also some oatmeal shown.
Similarly roasty, grainy flavours, with a hint of rum-like booze in there. Pretty full on.
Could us more carbonation and a thicker body.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Maris (544) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - MAY 30, 2011
From a 375ml bottle on 30/5/2011. Pours a very dark brown/black, with a head full of big bubbles. Has a modest aroma of coffee and chocolate. In the mouth, it starts out quite sweet and chocolatey and finishes with some roasted malt notes and a mild bitterness. The body is quite thin and watery. An unremarkable stout which just scrapes through with a pass mark.
2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 jrallen34 (3445) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 2, 2011
bottle drank from a tulip... dark brown with a light tan head, the head rises and stays at two fingers for awhile, but its very ugly big bubbles a watery... the aroma is roasted chocolate, fresh cocoa powder notes, a touch of alcohol and a bit generic, but decent... the semi nice things that were present on the nose do not show through on the taste, very light in taste and mouthfeel, watery, a little coffee only a hint of roast... not a fan
