3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml bottle, 2012 vintage. Nose starts with Brett, oak barrel and light berry notes. Flavors starts with lactic sourness follow by oaky wood, light funky barn yard notes. The berry is very subtle and an afterthought at this point in the aging. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

No joke buddy! ,.. Pours out a bakery box pink tan .. Medium foam .. . Lots of strawberry, and some hay and mild bubblegum .. . Solid all around, great sour! .. . . I don’t know about you, but I always watch my garage door go all the way down in case a murderer tries to roll in at the last minute.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle - 750mL corked and caged. 2012 Project. Courtesy of GandGKevin. Thanks Kevin! Golden bodied with a tall, foamy white head. Aroma is surprisingly sweet at first with strawberry jam up front followed by tart berry notes, wheat, light lemon, funky yeast, leather notes and earthiness. Taste ups the sourness a tad with more tart berries, unripe strawberries, hints of strawberry jam, wet wood, earthy notes, strong yeast funkiness, light leather and lemon juice. Body is light-medium and dry with a moderate, bubbly carbonation. Pleasant acidic feel throughout. More sour berries and funky yeast during the finish along with wheat notes, earthy notes, lemon juice, wet leather, wet wood and softer strawberries. Damn nice!

Sampled at the Barrel House. Hazy amber with an off-white head. Instant strawberry jam aroma. Very impressive on the nose. Taste doesn’t quite live up to it, but plenty more bright, juicy strawberries are packed in. Mouthfeel a touch thin. Very good.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft. Pours golden orange with a white head. Very natural strawberry presence, low sweetness, soft acidity and tartness, and a nice dry strawberry fruity finish. Nice, probably the best of the few strawberry beers I’ve ever had.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAR 27, 2014 Bottle: Murky, almost completely opaque amber with a big bubbles foamy, off white head that crackles. Aroma is funky strawberry. Strawberry juice and candy and almost pez-like with some dry cotton funk. Taste is pez strawberry candy, good amount of tartness, some mild oaky funk, musty and cobweb-ish with some tart, finishing strawberry. Dry and tasty. Finishes sharp and oaky, tannic.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
The beer is a slow gusher as it tries to foam over as soon as I pour the cork. A very careful pour into my New Belgium Globe glass produces a three finger thick, pale tan color head and it leaves some nice lacing on the sides of my glass. The aroma has a bright strawberry note to it, but is not as concentrated as it could be; this plays up a grassy side of the strawberries, which is also played up by the pale malt character.
The beer is quite tart, with a grassy edge to it, as well as a soft, juicy strawberry flavor, a touch of strawberry sweetness (though this quite dry), lots of lactic sourness. The beer has quite a bit of body to it for a sour; much of it seems like a lactic slickness, but there is also a significant texture from the standard beer subjects, and perhaps some oak texture as well. There is some oak character here, it has a woody edge to it, some spiciness, and a bit of astringency.
Interesting, but not really all that great. A bit disappointing really as I was hoping for so much more; brighter strawberry notes here would have made this quite a bit better. As with most of the Cascade beers the funkiness is quite tame and really the focus is on the lactic tartness, so there really needs to be something else to boost the complexity.
