On tap @ Chuck’s 85th. Pours light pale yellow with no head. Tart grapes and a hint of vinegar on the nose. Light initial tartness that fades quickly. Crisp malts balance perfectly. Thin refreshing taste. Someone just said this would be perfect at 11 in the morning and that sounds about right. Carries a premium but these guys know their sours.

Opaque goldenrod hue. Lovely, fragrant nose of chamomile, pear, and lavender; white wine or rice vinegar acidity, layered and gentle. Similarly, the flavor is careful and quiet, though confident; golden delicious apple, straw, pear, and white grape are its brightest components. Excellently balanced acidity and crisp, fulsome texture. Finish lingers with punchy, deep fruit acids.

Smells like sour grapes. Tastes like mold and baby diapers and deliciousness. Mouthfeel is good - I like it. And now I’m too far tipsy to rate. Let’s switch to HFS saisons that I technically haven’t rated but have had a ton of...

This one is a mix of grape juice flavor, to go along with plenty of sour flavors. Definitely came off as weird, but it came off as tasty too. Who would have guess that combo would work? Go figure…

"Long time wish list brew. Not a favorite as far as Cascade is concerned, but that’s really not a knock. Cascade makes some of the best sours out there. This one is really good, just not among their best. Pretty nice marriage between sour blonde ale and wine. Seems like sauvignon grape (juice) and some bretty funky goodness. Pretty strong at 9.7% but the alcohol is barely noticeable. I could see white wine drinkers really liking this one. I prefer reds, but this was still really nice. Fairly strong sour/tartness going on on the palate."

Serving: 750 ml. bottle. Bright amber pour with a thin white head that quickly fades. The nose quickly caught me off guard. Grape Hubba Bubba bubblegum? Super tart up front, but the tartness fades to reveal a fresh, concord grape sweetness. I didn’t get much direct flavor from the wood per se, but there is a slightly astringent finish. Nice mix of flavors.

2009 poured from bottle to glass. Honey hue with off white head. Aroma is lactic, straw, grapes, oak. Mouthfeel is great with a medium light body and zesty carbonation. Taste is sweet initially with a sour tartness following and a tannic dryness in the finish. Overall this is a very enjoyable brew!

2011 project. Clear golden pour with a slight white head. Nose is oak, wine and a hint of citrus. Taste is really nice. Complex, sour and fruity. Grape skin tannin finish.

Bottle pour split. Pours a light yellow with a super white graphics juice sour aroma. Mild sour grape flavors. A little berry to it as well. Nice tart finish with grape flavors lingering forever. Great beer here. Loved it.

750ml bottle shared thanks to Lukeduke! Pours cloudy toasted orange with medium head. Nose is tart fruity citrus, grains, grape, boozy wine, dusty funk. Taste has a mix of bready belgian yeast spice and funky tart stonefruit, wine, and citrus, finishes with some boozy bready yeast, wine, grape juice.

Pours a medium golden color with a finger of fizzy white foam. Nose a nice mixture of tart grape, honey malt and oak nuances. Palate follows with nice rustic grain, wet wood and honey kissed tart vinous notes. Mouthfeel is round upfront and lightens nicely with the tart acidity level on the finish.
