COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Wood aged Pale Quadruppel. Imagine a blend of Scaldis and Cantillon Pure Kriek. Forget it, there is nothing like it (yet). Vlad is shocking to your sour beer senses and taste buds, which do not understand that such a balanced delicate sour beer can be so drinkable and appeal to so many people while being extreme. But don’t forget, it will still open a can of 10.6% whoop-ass on your ass after all the pomp & circumstance of what an amazing beer it is subsides.

Draft@ Brouwers Cafe Sea. Very clear amber with a frothy tan head. Nice sour fruit, musty wood, bourbon vanilla sweet aromas.Medium body and smooth. Good tart fruit flavor is medium sour, with moldy wood and a bourbon vanilla sweetness. Quite the treat.

Woody amber-maroon color with an airy head. Aroma full of woody sourness with a piquant, prickly, and minty quality. Smooth, almost flat mouthfeel. Sourness dominates with some woodiness and interesting spiciness. Not my thing, but perhaps worth another tasting.

UPDATED: MAY 16, 2009 Crisp sour with a little tart to it, but not so much as to destroy the palate. One of the few such that I could have repeatedly in a night. Big fan. Re-rated. Dark orange amber color with light lacing a medium head. Port like aroma and highly sweet with interesting wine like characteristics.

Bright gold, creamy head, lots of lacing. The aroma is sweet and tart with peach and apricot showing each side. Great wood character, dry and chewy, bitingly so. Finishes with very under ripe stonefruit.

12 oz draft pour at Brouwer’s in Seattle. Pour is mostly clear orange ruby with a smallish off white head. Aroma of sour wine grapes, resin, interesting and big nose. Very present. Taste is sour cherry, wine, grape skin, tannin and grape juice. Big, sour, fruity, oaky - really interesting. Palate is drying, medium and more of the woodiness from the taste. I am such a fan of this brewery.

Draft at Brouwer’s. Ooooooh, yeah, this is one of the good ones. Pours crystal clear bright rubied garnet with a dense but shallow creamy tan head. Enormous sharp wood and red wine notes on the nose, plenty of tannins there as well. Bracing. Creamy medium body with a nicely positioned undercurrent of carb. Wine, oak, sour cherries, bits of lemon on the mid-palate. Just a very big and sharp beer that stands up and grabs your attention. Truly delicious and exceptional. We don’t get many beers like this, if any, produced locally up here in the PNW. This is amazing.

On Tap at Brouwer’s in Seattle. Darker pour for a sour ale. Interesting description by brewery, but more straightforward i think. Oaky (scotch) and sweet with sharp nose and sour acidity. quite tasty but a bit out there

On tap at the Raccoon Lodge. Pours lightly hazed orange/gold with a soft fizzy white head. Dry and acidic with a citrus note to the sourness. When I first had this at the Holiday Ale Fest the sourness and acidity seemed much more mild, but I prefer the acidity and sourness that came with this glass. Very dry and sour finish, excellent brew, one of the best sours I’ve had from the NW.

Surprisingly sour nose, and flavor, but somewhat lacking in complexity, and with a strange, almost metallic hitch in mid-taste. Still, the puckerliciousness of it reminds me of Deviation, if it were blended with North Coast Old Stock, and I have to give Cascade major points for coming up with such a unique hybrid.

UPDATED: APR 11, 2010 Deep amber with medium white head. Sour taste with bitter acidic finish. Mixed feeling among five tasters. Might need to try this one again.
