Wood aged Pale Quadruppel. Imagine a blend of Scaldis and Cantillon Pure Kriek. Forget it, there is nothing like it (yet). Vlad is shocking to your sour beer senses and taste buds, which do not understand that such a balanced delicate sour beer can be so drinkable and appeal to so many people while being extreme. But don’t forget, it will still open a can of 10.6% whoop-ass on your ass after all the pomp & circumstance of what an amazing beer it is subsides.

Bottle shared by bhensonb. Pours orange copper with almost no head and a fruity aroma. There is a tart cherry flavor that quickly turns sweet then leaves a sour taste on the palate. Strange but delicious. The abv is surprisingly not detectable.

2011 bottle thanks to FullObs I believe. Pours a hazy pale yellow color with a big foamy head that fades normally and leaves some lacing. Awesome aroma. Lots of oak and vanilla mix in with sour apples, strawberries, citrus peel, and light Brett. Taste again brings a bunch of oak flavor which I love. Sourness is moderate which is perfect for me. Abv is incredibly well hidden, drinks like it’s 5%. I love how the citrus and fruitiness balances with the barrel character. Up there with my favorite sours I’ve had to date.

750 ml corked and caged bottle, 2011 Project, shared with brenn79. 10.81% ABV. Aroma is extremely oaky, Bourbon barrels strong. Pours clear golden with a one finger white head that falls fairly quick. Taste is lightly sweet and a little sour (6/10 on a sour scale); very dry. Boozy. Interesting, but not what I look for in a sour. Second thoughts: this really mellows out after it warms up. The harshness dials down significantly and it becomes quite wine-like, making me up my initial scores.

750 ml bottle, thanks Poisoneddwarf- Pours hazy orange with a thin white head that reduces to a collar and a few islands. Aroma is very oaky, bourbon, some tartness and maybe lacto. The taste is mildly tart, dry, oaky, somewhat hoppy it seems like, some fruits in there as well. Body is medium to light and carbonation is high. Good beer, mildly disappointed after all the hype.

750 ml bottle. Sour. Light cherry. Fruit throughout. Nice lovely aroma. Just a damn fine version of the sour. So balanced.

Bottle pour @ WWBA. Clean amber with reserved head. Wood is the dominate note on nose. Some raisin and plums, with leather. Taste follows. Great round flavors. Apples and mild Brett. Semi-tart finish. A tad rough on the palate, but otherwise a real charmer.

Pours a dark orange with hints of amber and a slight coppery redness. Fluffy white head, sticky legs and very good lacing. Aroma is burnt orange peel, a clove/pine note and cardimum? Taste is tart orange peel, clove and a touch of cinnamon. Great medium body and highly carbonated. Another amazing beer from Cascade!

Bottle at EBF, 3/22/14
Light amber body shows good clarity with a small off-white head with moderate to low retention.
Big and fruity nose is very inviting; tons of raisins, plums, strawberries and just a touch of leather and vanilla to soften things. Not overly sweet or alcoholic given its size.
Pretty straightforward flavor has a great balance of acetic elements without it or the malt sweetness getting out of control thanks to a moderate amount of oak dryness and some dry lactic notes. A touch of cheesey funk, berry skins and dry vanilla mix with light toffee and raisins on the finish. Carbonation is moderate to slightly low and the alcohol, while helping dry the flavor, does thin out the perceived body, on the finish, somewhat. Can’t argue with the flavors though, and as we’ve come to expect from Cascade, they demonstrate so much skill with these style of beers. Great stuff. Now to try the other 100 sours I havent had from them....

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear amber with light head. Aromas of apples, light barnyard and green oak. Flavours of applesauce, light Brett and apple pie. Excellent.
