COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Wood aged Pale Quadruppel. Imagine a blend of Scaldis and Cantillon Pure Kriek. Forget it, there is nothing like it (yet). Vlad is shocking to your sour beer senses and taste buds, which do not understand that such a balanced delicate sour beer can be so drinkable and appeal to so many people while being extreme. But don’t forget, it will still open a can of 10.6% whoop-ass on your ass after all the pomp & circumstance of what an amazing beer it is subsides.

Pours deep orange and hazy. head is small and lasting. Nose is very lactic, sweet malts, light acetic acid notes, sweet malts, vanilla caramel. Flavor is oddly sweet Malta and vanilla but comes through mildly sour and tart. Medium body. this isn’t. ad but I don’t really prefer the sweet vanilla bourbon character is a sour. glad to try.

hazy red amber, heavy laced thin white ring. Nose is light peach and mango, brett considerably eggy, sandy. Flavor is heavy sweetness, lightly bretty, egg and paper. Fizzy, overly bretty, no malt.

Tap at the Barrel House - hazy straw color - a lot of vanilla and white grades in the nose and flavor - fairly sweet, but with a moderate acidic punch to it - still, the sweetness is high enough for me to believe this probably shouldn’t be listed as a sour - spicy alcohol - overripe apples, spicy mulled wine - light funkiness on the tail end - some acetic character mucks up the finish - okay.

750ml bottle pours a transparent, neon orange with a creamy, off white head. Nose is lightly sour, lemons, grass, solid wood aromas, wood pulp. Flavor is sweeter than I’d imagine, orange candy, lightly acidic, apple cider vinegar, lime, some melon, pear, jalapeno. Full bodied, tart, acidic finish.

Bottle at FoBAB that someone brought into the brewer’s area. Pours a deep gold with a nice head. Nose is really nice. Cascade sour written all over it. Lots of lacto and fruitiness. Peaches come to mind, as well as some candy notes. On tasting, nice level of sour, really clean and a touch boozy. A nice respite from all the vanilla laden beers, for sure. Excellent beer.

Pours a hazy and orange beer with a weak offwhit head. The aroma is grapefruit, tart, raisin/rum and wood. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is sweetness with acidity. Overall a really good and complex beer.

Ahhhh... sour goodness! 2009 bottle bought at Belmont Station in Portland in November of 2010. It took 5 minutes to pull the cork out. Silently poured a mainly clear orangy amber brew with micro floaties and a decent sized off white head that always stayed at a full surface cover plus. Wide sticky, ropy lacing. 10.2% - 10.2% and as chuggable as a sour could be. Hard to really pull specifics out of the aroma but here it goes in no particular order: pineapple, wet somewhat fresh cut wood, sweet cherry fruit, lime? spices that I cannot discern, hints of raisin / apple something, honey when warm, cheap white wine and I cannot find anything specific from the bourbon, sour lemon stuff. Tasty and highly drinkable with wonderful sourness that only teases the stomach, faint vinegar if any, more sourness, oak and spices, sharp lemon, acidic always, unsweetened grapefruit harshness, possible cherry, funk, vinous and I think caramel. Has a bit of an oily feel and finishes strong and sour. Goodness! Kirk has a concerned look on his face. 2:34am and I’m craving another beer.... sigh

750 ml bottle generously shared by colonelforbin. Thanks Mike. Pours a hazy light copper with a small white head that leaves a bit of lacing on the glass. The aroma is big oak oak, some light bourbon, vanilla, a lactic sourness, some funk, grape, and a bit of cinnamon. The taste is oak, cinnamon, some funk, light boubon, some vanilla, and a sharp lactic sourness. The finish has some light alcohol as well as a light astringency. Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. This beer was quite enjoyable. There are a lot of flavors going on that work well together.
