3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 ClarkVV (3578) - Allston, Massachusetts, USA - APR 6, 2005
2005 bottle. Served in a lambic flute at about 45 degrees. Pale orange body, light peachy-apricot tones, lighter gold/yellow notes, clear. Medium-sized bubbles rise to the top to form a moderate amount of white head. Retention is fair. Aroma of earthy, fuzzy hosp, lots of grass and wet green leaves. A bit of sourish-mineral-like yeast and I do believe I detect a little fruitiness (which is pleasant but out of style). Perhaps some red apples and nectarines and tangerines. Flavor is quite dry, though there is a good pils malt honey flavor that adds a decent backbone. More mineral-like notes, soft, not-bitter hops are everywhere, with quite a crisp finish and some graininess lingering. Medium-light body, moderate carbonation.

Overall, not a bad beer. Better than any macro pilseners you are going to find. It would be a great beer to try on somebody who is sworn to Bud or Miller or any of those other "Great American Beers." Nice clear golden color, with a decent sized (1/8 inch) head. Stayed foamy throughout the drink. Kind of bitter, kind of hoppy. I would drink this beer if they sold it at Fenway. (The only time to drink Pilseners is at a baseball game or after you have mowed the lawn).

UPDATED: MAY 26, 2006 I am not a pilsner fan in general. This beer came as part of my beer club but it took me a while to get around to trying it. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a medium golden color with a very small white head. There was a light malt aroma and a nice flowery hop scent. There was a bitterness on the finish. The flavor was sour and surprisingly hoppy with noted flowery and mild grapefruit notes. The finish is bitter and hoppy. A rather nice pilsner overall.

Golden in color with a slight haze and large white head. Flowery hop aroma with mild grain character. Bitter and hoppy with a dry grainy malt character.Great body for a pilsner ,no signs of adjunct here.

Best by 05 31 04 drank on 06 03 04. Lightly hazy light orange with a quickly falling rocky head. Flowery perfumey aroma, some light malts too. Full bodied (even for some ales), good amount of bitterness. A very nice pilsener that is underrated here.

Bottled. I'm not a pilsener fan so they are never going to get a high rating. Thisn one fit the bill just right. Clean and refreshing beer.

Light gold color. Small white foamy head. Aroma is fruity, grainy and a touch grassy. A medium bodied pilsner. Malts are fruity and sweet, with hints of orange and lime. Hops are slightly spicy. Sprizty carbonation. Nicely balanced. Light and refreshing and nicely drinkable. There is a slight hop bite for a pilsner. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean an crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
