Our flagship, this Irish-Style Red Ale proudly won a gold medal at the 2000 World Beer Cup. A combination of 5 different malts and 3 hop varietals, carefully blended, results in a perfect balance. Full-flavored and medium-bodied, the Riptide Red provides surprising complexity for such an easy-drinking brew.

12oz bottle. Pours a deep clear amber/red color with a thin off white head. Aroma of faint piny and citrus hops, with lots of caramel malt coming through. Taste of toasted caramel malt, a slightly herbal hop spiciness, and mild bitterness.

Thanks to someone for sharing this at bu11zeye’s 10,000th tasting in April 2012. Orange-amber pour with a white head. The aroma is full of wheat and oranges. The flavor is similar with some wheat, orange and lemon. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

12oz into a pint. Pours a brown/amber, solid colors for autumn. Head is fizzy and encompassing and remains throughout. Taste is malty red, slight metalic, hops at a distance, and grass, soil, and harvest reflections. Another nice easy drinker from casco bay, Im sensing a theme here. Nothing too fancy, but enjoyable enough to reflect on the libations going down. Malts seems to entertain the majority of this brew as they should, and the red presence is above all the focus, again, to the point. This goes great with a pub mentality and even better if it was happy hour.

Nutty caramel and butterscotch aroma. Copper red color. Overall a sweet taste with some bitter crispness to it. An easy drinker yet oddly filling, which can be said of most of Shipyard’s product.

This one doesn’t get much love since a fair amount of people know Shipyard owns it, but here goes: Pours a light red and gives a darker red body with one finger white foamy head, some light slowly moving carbonation is seen rising; Smell is caramel malts up front, light hops,Taste is mainly sweet through previously mentioned flavors, Palate is light to medium, sessionable, caramel aftertaste Overall, this is good for me and good for the style

Pours a red-amber with a fluffy off-white head. Lots of carbonation. Aroma is bread, coffee, nutty. This is more earthy and malty than I expected. Taste is nutty and mild, some hoppiness; not very complex. But nice in its simplicity. Mouth feel is somewhat chewy. This isn’t too bad; I’d order this in a bar.
