thenick (509), North Bellmore, New York, USA Feb 23, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear, effervescent red with a generous and lingering tan head. Aroma is caramel malt with a nice citrus hop characteristic at the end of the nose. Flavor is grain up front with a nice hop bitterness and slight malt sweetness at the end. Remains very smooth and drinkable throughout.
Cappadonna (101), Delray Beach, Florida, USA Jul 5, 2008 Slight caramel aroma, not much else. Deep copper color with little carbonation and tan head. Enjoyable balanced taste at first, then a weird chalky taste, then finishes nicely bitter. Not a whole lot memorable that’s good. jason (1473), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 25, 2008 Bottle. Diactyl bomb! The diactyl is so strong in the aroma it was really tough to choke it down. Flavor is malty with diactyl again being dominant. Imaena (175), Portland, Maine, USA Jun 21, 2008 Bottle from shipyard brewery. Deep red color with hoppy flavor. Cream color head. Not a well rounded beer in my opinion. Go for the old thumper. Nejhleader (772), Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 7, 2008 bit of a sweet grainy malt aroma, has a good grainy malt flavor, virtually no aftertaste, pretty smooth brew, not too bad. KnN (219), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA Jun 6, 2008 Decent beer. Pours a nice red color with a think tan head. Aroma is surprisingly hoppy, but the core malt is very present as well. Flavor is a bit bitter, a bit musty, and very malty. Went fine with a steak I was eating, but suffered a little on its own.
