3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Berley31 (230) - New Brunswick, - JUN 29, 2009Bottle. Poured with a small, off-white head, that quickly diminished down to an 1/8 inch foam. Nice golden-orange color and very clear. Aroma is of very light yeast and malt. Body is medium on the palate, slightly slick, with average carbonation. Very nice. Nice flavor, slightly sweet, with an average-lasting finish that was quite pleasant. Goes down very easy. A summer beer that is actually set apart from the rest... and one of the better blondes I’ve had in a while as well.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 KickInChalice (842) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 1, 2012
From notes. First reviewed 1/14/2011. Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass.
Casco Bay Summer Ale has a pure golden color, transparent with a fizzy 2 inch white head. The bubbles audibly pop and the head fades to nothing.
Buttery pale malt, with a general fruitiness and soft floral hops make up the aroma.
I like the transition of flavors, and it does have a little bit of a kick for a summer ale. It starts out sharp, with silky smooth pale malt, some light fruitiness, before the hoppyness comes into play. Generally bitter leafy hops eventually reveal a floral character. The finish is dry and bitter.
The body is on par with the other Casco’s I have had. Bubbly carbonation is noticeable, but calling it crisp would be an overstatement. As the hoppy flavors come into play, the feel dries out somewhat.
The extra hops and bitterness are a new take on the style, but I wasn’t really going for something hoppy here. Maybe another time I would like it better.
3.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 damzz (182) - Massachusetts, USA - MAR 24, 2011
Pour is a slight orange with a small slightly off white head that quickly dissipates leaving minimal lacing and a small ring that partially covers the beer. Nose is malt with slight, very slight hops. Carbonation is average. Taste is malty sweetness up front with slight hoppy aftertaste. The lightness yet flavorful taste of this brew and low gravity makes it perfect for a summer session beer or anytime.

7-12-08. Poured yellow orange with a diminishing head. Smelled of caramel and citrus zest. Tasted of some light fruit, caramel, and some zesty hops. Pretty good stuff.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 kramer (3880) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 21, 2007
12 oz bottle. Pours a clear yellow gold body under an enormous fizzy foamy white head that took forever to settle. The nose is fairly clean, yet fairly boring as well. Light hay and a touch of floral hops. The flavor is that same boring light pale malts with a touch of floral hops and a lingering doughy maltiness. Mouthfeel is lighter bodied with a watery texture and too much fizzy prickly carbonation. A lingering doughy stickiness remains. Overall, pretty boring and not especially pleasant.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Immy (1955) - Virginia Beach, USA - AUG 8, 2007
12 oz bottle from LooseCannon - thanks Ron! Best by 072007. Lightly hazed gold with a short lived white head. Grainy nose, a bit of grapefruit citrus. Lively mouthfeel, medium body. Lightly citrus flavors balanced pretty well by the grain and light caramel. Rather refreshing. I realize this is a "summer" beer, but with a bit more punch this could really be great! It grew on me until, at the bottom of the glass,, I actually wished I had another. Pretty well done!
