3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Amber color with a lasting off white head. Sweet, dark sugar flavors with a mild bitter finish. I found it a little thin. I would not have identified it as an IPA.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Amber-red color with a thick, white head. Some lacing.
Sweet malty smells along with lots of aroma hops. The aroma of sweetness borders on a barleywine aroma.
Nicely balaned malt/hop flavors. Strong maltiness gives way to spicy hops that linger nicely.
Very warming and smooth beer that does it's job on a cold (7 F) winters night.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep Amber color, medium head. Aroma is malty and slightly spicy. A medium bodied Strong ale. Malty and hoppy. Malts are very strong, slightly smoky. Hops are pronounced and slightly spicy. There are some spices working here as well, the usual suspects, nutmeg, allspice and cinnamon. The 7.3 % alcohol is evident, but yet its still a very warming beer. The taste smoothes and mellow a bit as it warms. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter, with a pronounce alcohol bite.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Mildly hoppy, with some sort of woodiness in the malt. Not really oaky, but just woody. I like it anyway. Better warmer. The color of rosewood or teak (Dammit! What is it with wood and this beer?), with a scant beige head. Could use more body.

Strange aftertaste. Not as good as I had anticipated.
