The first Cassel Brewery recipe to come out of the kettles. I have modified it slightly afterward but the same basic recipe remains. This brew was designed to please almost everyone, even those who don’t normally like beer, love this one. It has a nice lovely light sweet finish and velvet texture.

[growler from brewery] Nutty aroma with plenty of brown sugar, some cream, and detectable hops. Clear dark amber under a tan foam that drops to a patch and lace. The flavour is sweet and nutty malt up front, followed by a bit of bread crust and then brown sugar (honey?) together with a subtle bitterness. Medium to full body, medium carbonation, nutty finish. Balance is a bit too much on the sweet side--a drier finish would be better.

I smell chocolate and spices. Semi-sweet malts and honey feature prominently in the flavour, and it’s far less cloying than I expected. Far from my favourite style but not bad at all.

500ml bittle . LCBO Liberty Village. Unfiltered red autumn sunset colour. Thin light head turns into a thin lacing of big bubbles. A lot of heavy semi-sweet chocolate aromas, and honey. Chicolate . Easy drinking and refreshing ale an fading taste of savory cake batter and a provencial bitterness way on the back of the tongue. Very tasty dessert beer.

Sort of cloudy amber to red colour. Aroma is as advertised with honey and some sweet malts, a hint of caramel and some cereal. Sweeter styled brew but not cloying. Medium body and some creamy texture but lacks finish and flavour. Meh, i’ve had worse.

From a growler purchased at the brewery in Casselman, which was bottled earlier that same day. Poured a pretty clean red/brownish colour, with a big foamy off-white head, which dissipated to a thin layer. Good carbonation. Aromas of honey are apparent, as well as roasted malts and spices. Maybe a bit of a syrupy smell too. Watery mouthfeel, a bit disappointing. But some nice tingling on the palate and no offensive aftertaste. Flavour is about the same as aromas. Definite honey taste, with some milder spices and the hops are well hidden. Pretty good. looking forward to trying their other brews.

Draught @ Fresco, Pembroke, ON. Pours hazy copper brown with small off-white head. Clear aroma of malt and fruit, with touches of honey and notes of yeast. Sweetish flavour of malt, fruit and honey, with some acidic and hoppy notes and touches of yeast. Honey and fruit in the aftertaste, with some estery touches. Drinkable but nothing special.

The beer pours a murky reddish-gold with a thin light tan coloured cap. The aroma is caramel, yeast, grains, floral hops, and weak notes of honey. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is sweet honey, caramel, toasted malts, and grains.

Pour is amber with a timid off-white head. Nose is caramel, a bit of roasted grain, plum-like fruitiness. Taste-wise it’s definitely more fruity than roasted, a touch watery for my liking, but it’s drinkable.

(Rating #5980)

500ml bottle in a tulip. Pours amber with an off-white head. Aroma of light malts and nuts and notes of yeasty dough. Flavor tastes infected with grossness. Weird texture. A really weird and bad beer.
