Polycask at the Live and Let Live, Cambridge, 11-10-08 Pours yellow/faded gold colour with a tiny bit of haze looks great. Very still cider was told it was dry and it is but its a nice blend. Dryness isn’t combined with a sharpness its just an ever present dryness. The appleyness is soft but good and tangy, also some woodiness, its a great cider.

Cask@St. Radegund, Cambridge. Hazy yellowish golden colour with not too much head. Aroma is apples, wood, some vanilla and mild cheesy notes. Flavour is apples, wood, some mild vanilla, yeast and mild notes of earth. Quite mouthdrying.

Hand pull at The Live & Let Live, Cambridge. Hazed Gold with no head. Particularly dry cider, takes the skin of your tongue, heavy with fruit and particularly acidic. Bitter and oaky on the finish. What a cider.

Cask handpull at Kingston Arms, Cambridge. Hazy orange gold colour with disappearing off white head. Lovely bready cider. The apple fruit juice is balanced by a great acidity and woodiness. After being physically sick on cider some years ago, I could never touch the stuff, but over the past year or so, I have gotten used to the flavours again (getting back into it via perry helped). This has apple, bread/dough and wood on the aroma. Moderate fullness of apple juice in mouth and then a sour dry finish that really cleans the palate. Very good cider. Intensity of flavour and sour/dryness is excellent. Mind you, don’t drink it on an empty stomach like me. I am now wobbling on the bar stool.
