COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The name is a clue that our brewer likes to keep things simple for this super-hoppy pale ale; just one type of malt and a single hop variety are used. Pouring a brilliant old gold hue beneath a deep, rocky white head, the aroma is sweet, perfumy and inviting, with the distinctive citrus, tropical fruit and grassy signature of New Zealand Cascade hops. The palate is at first soft and creamy, yet tart and spritzy, with sweet malt vying to balance a riot of tropical fruit flavours and tongue-coating hop resins. Then the mouth becomes dry as an uncompromising bitterness kicks in and lingers. Great stuff! A celebration of New Zealand hops, this beer makes a splendid aperitif or a wonderful partner for hot, spicy food and milder blue cheeses. Geoff Griggs – October 2011

On tap at pier side cafe. Herbal and resinous hop aroma with mild caramel notes. Taste is of caramel malt with a hearty bitter bite. I think the draft lines could use a cleaning, but the beer is still quite good. I prefer this on a hand pull. Too much carbonation on tap.

This is a superb beer. Not least because it held up well when following a Quad IPA! Alluring aroma and full, balanced flavour makes this my favourite Cassel’s brew (so far).

I wasn't sure if one malt could hold up cascade hops on it's own, but this is a well balanced, flavourful, and sessionable brew. Cascade, as always, is great on the nose. It is easy on the palate, and finishes with a dry, but not too dry, finish. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Keg - Brothers Beer, Auckland. 5.5%. Poured a lively golden amber with a small but lasting white head that left a uniform lace down the glass. Bright, fresh citrus and tropical fruit characters across both aroma and flavour with a lean towards a resinous bitterness in the finish on the palate. Balancing pale malt complexities develop, particularly aroma-wise. Light to medium body, crisp palate effervescence and a finish that lingers submitting eventually to an aftertaste of biscuity malt sweetness. A perfect thirst-slaking drop.

Taster, at CBD. Ultra fruity on the aroma, with peaches and lychees. Fruity and perfectly balanced with hoppy & grassy bitterness. I must have a pint on its own to enjoy it better.

Tap at source, subtle aroma of caramel and citrus. Nice and dry, surprisingly restrained hops well balanced with malts. Very refreshing, not very bitter aftertaste.

Ambar colour with a thin head that disappears quickly. Fruity and citrus aroma well balanced. Hops notes. It is a classic IPA, midium bitterness, fruity and tasteful. Good finish plenty of hop. A great beer.

Draft at Goldings Free Dive. Clear yellow color, thick white head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of lemongrass and white pepper. Taste is bitter citrus and straw.

Nice golden colour Poured to a good head. You can taste the cascade hops there, comes through in citrus nose also. Nice malty background and bitter mouth finish. Liked it
