Looks like your common or garden Irish red ale, heavy on the caramalt, slightly hazy mid-red-brown with a fluffy beige head. This one actually has some pleasing citrus hop character and chewy malt however and isn’t the carabomb I feared. There is hope for the style yet!

A big red pint. I was lucky enough to have an advance-sample some weeks ago prior to conditioning ad could recognise the potential of this beer. If a little raw, it was fruity and rounded. In maturity it is much more fragrant and sprucy. Red-amber in the glass with only a skim of head (served too cold on gas-flow), aromas of lush autumnal fruits, spruce, apricot and golden peaches. This is manifest in the flavour along with good sprucy hops and astringent bitterness. There was a lot to like about this beer including its sessionability. The body wasn’t as substantial as some of the hand-pull English style beers, but that didn’t mean for a moment that I was disappointed. A lot to like.
