Bottled. A golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of dusty hops and light notes of metal. The flavor is sweet with notes of corn, malt, and dusty hops.

Golden-straw colour with lots of sparkle. Grainy, slightly industrial nose with aged herbal hoppiness. Malty start, finishes slightly tart. Quite sweet throughout, with some very light herbal hop flavour but no bitterness.

Served in Belle Vue glass at Ethiopian restaurant in Toronto. Bright clear golden with lots of rising bubbles. Small white fizzy head, Grains and grass mainly in aroma. Fizzy mouthfeel, slight stickiness. Sweet entry. Off-dry finish. Has some doughiness to it. Not so bad, even if it is cloying. Next year, in Ethiopia!

Gold. Sweet fruity aroma, quite unexpected. From then on itís just another pale lager, rather sweet and watery, with some bitterness to finish. Oh yes, and thatís country rating #50 for this old boy.

Bottle. Country rating # 100! Pours a pale golden colour with a medium rather short lasting creamish white head leaving a poor lacing. Aroma of fruits (peach) and some grains. Thin mouthfeel. The flavour has some sweetness with a bit fruitiness, hops and malt. Short dry hoppish slightly fruity finish.

Bottle. Medium high white but quickly disappearing white head. Clear golden body. Sweet and fruity aroma in a pleasant mixture of pears and peaches. Not as sweet as feared. First impression is low hopped with the addition of some acidity. Low carbonation and a short aftertaste.

Bottle at Awash Ethiopian Restaurant in D.C. on 1/20/07
Similar to Harar, we have a very golden lager in appearance (perhaps a bit more pale than Harar) with a small, but initially frothy white head that recedes steadily to partial cover, leaving no lacing. Bubbly, force carbonated body is highly clear.
A bit more dry than harar, without the powdered sugar or sweet doughiness, though unfortunately, there is still a rather vibrant fruitiness of spoiled peaches and pears. Some cerealish grains just seem stale and pasteurized, while there is no sign of hops or crisp yeast. No alcohol noted, not incredibly problematic, but I donít find anything particularly positive either.
Stronger effervescence and less sweetness than Harar seem to produce a bit more crispness, though the flavor is lightly milky/sour and just more fruitiness than Iím looking for in a pale lager (not looking for any, actually). I wouldnt mind so much if it just had the cereal/graininess of whatever malt theyíre using, but the spoiled fruitiness is disruptive to the flavor. Some lightly crisp lager yeast apparency on the end and snappy carbonation with a lightly sweet body and watery texture. No alcohol apparent.
