3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750ml Bottle: Got in trade from phaleslu; Thanks Peter! Aroma of malt, grain, cereal, and hay. Poured yellow/gold in color with a large, creamy, dense, white head that greatly diminished but lasted throughout as a film on top of the beer, as well as around the edges. Clear. Sparkling. Good lacing. Flavor is light to medium sweet. Tastes of malt, grain, and little else. Light to medium body. Slick, then dry texture. Average carbonation. Malt and grain finish is light to medium sweet and lightly dry. How boring!

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Date: 8/15/2010 Source:Other Grainy malty aroma. Slight chill haze golden straw with a fluffy white head. Malty (Munich malt?) flavor. Not fruity at all with little cellar character. Hop derived spiciness? Medium body and mouth feel with high carbonation. Nice malty beer and quite clean for the style. Not much cellar character more like a well lagered strong pale ale.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a deep golden yellow with a very thin white head that fades quickly. Aroma is spicy, slightly sweet, and grassy hoppy. Taste is quite sweet, a bit spicy, and finishes with a mild grassy bitterness, along with a bit of astringency. Body is light, fairly carbonated. Not bad, but it’s missing the complexity I’d like in a biere de garde.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle courtesy of deyholla (and I’d be blacklisted if I didn’t specifically list his girlfriend, as the contributor). Pours a golden bright hue, a bit dulled, no haze, frothy filmed whitish head laces small, films. Aromas are funky skunky grains, a touch of pear, apple, grains, bread, faint sweet honey. Initial is light bodied, fruity tartness of pear and hardcore apple juice, touch of bread, grains, faint honey, vanilla, no real hop bitterness. Mellow sweetness, tart fruit, light funk or skunk. Mellow, slightly tart, a bit of skunk and shelf wear is evident. Dissappointing for it’s ranking, but not bad by any stretch.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Poured clear gold with an amber hue and an off-white head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma was full of sweet grains and biscuit with a slight floral and spice note. Flavor was similarly over sweet with biscuit and grain with a bit of spice and flower coming through.

UPDATED: JUL 13, 2010 750ml bottle at a BJCP study session. Pours a golden color with some haze. Some candy like malty sweetnes in the aroma. A little grainy with some sweetness on the front end of the taste. Finishes dry with a nice spicy hop bitterness. Pretty clean finish for a belgian. Great malt character.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured a dark, hazy golden color with a small white head that disappeared quickly. Sweet candy aromas of yeast, honey and butterscotch. Earthy sweet flavors of honey, spices and fruit. Finish is very dry with lively carbonation. A very well made beer from one of my favorite styles.
