Hmm, pours yellow/blonde with lots and lots of floaties and a thin white head. Berries and acidity dominate the aroma. The flavor was far to corn syrupy, lots of sweet malt, little acidity and a little fruit. Man, after the Oro De Calabaza, I was expecting something far better than this from a biere de garde.

mtoast (336) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 10, 2008
33cL bottle courtesy of yinzer at Pittsburgh gathering on 1/27/2008. Crystal clear golden color, stark white foam, decent retention. Nice earthy aroma, some very nice yeast spiciness. Flavor falls a little flat, somewhat malty with some of the yeastiness coming through but for the most part comes across as a bit watery. Was really looking forward to this, I think my expectations far exceeded reality.

Bottle. Pours golden orange with an off white head. Light sweet malty aroma with some spicy hints and a light must. The flavor has a sweet malt base with some spicy and herbal notes. Pretty good.

TheAlum (5909) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - NOV 11, 2010
Bottle courtesy of deyholla (and I’d be blacklisted if I didn’t specifically list his girlfriend, as the contributor). Pours a golden bright hue, a bit dulled, no haze, frothy filmed whitish head laces small, films. Aromas are funky skunky grains, a touch of pear, apple, grains, bread, faint sweet honey. Initial is light bodied, fruity tartness of pear and hardcore apple juice, touch of bread, grains, faint honey, vanilla, no real hop bitterness. Mellow sweetness, tart fruit, light funk or skunk. Mellow, slightly tart, a bit of skunk and shelf wear is evident. Dissappointing for it’s ranking, but not bad by any stretch.

A light ale throughout, a little bit of yeast in the flavor, but rather boring and simple otherwise.

At Beckett’s Pale yellow color. Sweet. Didn’t have a lot of complexity. Very minerally. Serving: Bottle

3fourths (8236) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - AUG 26, 2012
bottle-conditioned 750ml, BB 24/07/2013. early pour is clear apple juice color with a large-bubbled white head of average retention. early on it has a strangely faint nose, as in, it almost smells like nothing whatsoever. there’s a small bit of red apple esters and mild calcium, copper and soap notes with cork and tomato / vegetable / ketchup scents coming into play as it opens. medium body, somewhat chewy and oily. apple juice flavor with very small accents of ginger root, detergent and hairspray. juicy, sweet, effervescent presence in the mouth. carbonation is a bit too rough, and the malt is a combination of gooey apple cider texture with rough, grain-heavy edges.

Sample courtesy of Wohlfs. Golden yellow in color. Aroma and flavor of euro-lager skunk. Not too overwhelming though. Finishes with a unique sweet-bitterness. Just o.k.

Poured a hazy gold with almost no head at all. Aroma was grassy with some fruit. Flavor was spicy with a bit of bubblegum to it. Body was a little thin and watery. It’s OK, but certainly not a standard of the style.

750 ml corked and caged bottle poured a clear gold with a small lingering off white head. Aromas of straw, earthiness and light fruitiness. Palate was light bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of straw, earthiness and light fruitiness with a smooth dry finish.
