Small head and sweet aroma. The flavor was sweet and malty but too watery.

Nice sweet banana on the nose with hints of tofee. The flavor once again as with the previous Ch’TI beer lacks. A little watery and overly sweet.

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a dark amber color (duh) with a thin head. Strong sugary aroma and a way thicker malt hit than I expected from a Biere de Garde. Unfortunately, the taste did not live up to the invitation. It’s a very watery mess of weak malt and nothing else. Sad.

Bottle 50cl. Red/brown. Malty, sweet, berries, dry... you know the story. But i also tasted: Earthy, mould, like the aroma of a wet gym-towel, after two weeks in a plastic bag...

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Nice looking poor with a small but frothy head. Very drinkable with some floral tones. A bit tame for a french country ale.

3.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
An amber color beer with a sweet caramel taste, but also some citrus fruits aftertaste. It has a long lasting head. I liked it but not a big fan.

75 cl bottle. No yeast at the bottom. Amber clear colour with a nice white head. Aroma and flavour of caramel, little sweet and very fizzy. Enjoyable but nothing more.

1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20
Sadly lacking in all aspects I was glad to finish this one off quickly and move onto something more sessionable. Expected a lot more from this famous Bière de garde producer. Poured into it’s own bulbous tulip glass, cool but not cold. Has an attractive, sparkling burnished copper body with a thin dollop of cream floating on top that left minimal lace. Overly soft and difficult to pick up, the aroma seemed a mix of caramel, figs and driftwood, and a late hint of salted meats. Not inviting so I was glad it wasn’t too pronounced. Thin and watery in the mouth, soft in carbonation and slightly oily in the back end. Oxidised, Vienna-style malts (like rust!), rye bread and some fruit concentrates that add a light sweetness upfront. Finish is short, subtle linger of eggs and rust. Not very agreeable to drink; thin and lacking definition. Disappointing!!! (25cL, 01/09/06, Int’l Beer Shop, W. Leederville)
