Bottled 01-13-06. Pours a hazy, amber color with an off-white, average-sized, pillowy head; the head is mostly diminshing leaving minimal lace. Nose is fairly nice with notes of toffee, raisin, some apricot, lightly toasted caramels, and a grainy yeast note. Flavor is a bit of a letdown; notes of grainy malts and toffee with faint raisins and figs and a floral bitterness that almost seems disassociated from the malt notes. Palate is almost medium, lively, and silky smooth; nice feel, but not as round or full as great examples of the style. Finishes with a decent bitterness after most of the sweetness disappears with lingering notes of toffee, faint yeast, and a mild warmth. Not a bad example of a dying style, but lacked complexities, unique character, and the bold rich mouthfeel of perfect examples of the style. A bit like a watered down version of the style but still approachable and pleasant.

A reddish brown coloured beer with a frothy, light beige-white head. The nose is citrusy to begin with, then a bitter sweet burnt sugar liquorice finish. The flavour is bitter sweet, caramel and liquorice and malty. There is an underlying citrus tang throughout.

UPDATED: APR 5, 2005 pours amber colour, very small head which is quick to dissipate. Smells of sour apples and a sickly toffee. tastes of more toffee, but with a sour finish. I really did not enjoy drinking this.

Small bottle. Bright copper body with a medium white head. Aroma has malt and some berries. Medium sweet taste with a light hop bitterness and easy mouthfeel. Finish has some berries and a dry hops. Nice. Just don’t serve it at -8 °C as the label suggests.

A clear medium brown/orange color with a large foamy tan head. Straw, caramel and alcohol in the nose. A nice specialized malt flavor, sweet yet crisp, not cloying. Slightly hoppy follow. Easy drinking too! One of the best French beers I've had.

Bottled from Somerfield. Lovely amber colour, good lasting head. BIG on the nose and just as big on the palate, rich malty, and so..o..o satisfying. This is a very classy brew..go on, treat your tastebuds. Not a brew for a session tho’
