Bottle. Tesco Finest.. Cloudy orange (looks like apple juice) with a big disappearing white head. Aromas are crisp, fresh wheat with citrus, hints of banana, Not much coriander. Flavours are refreshing, wheat orange and lemon. Soft. Not the most multi-dimensional of beers. Not getting much coriander. Some wheat citrus sourness. Crisp and too bloating.

Bottled.from Sainsbury’s beer festival. Hazy washing-up water/weak tea looking, there goes the head, weak yeasty aroma, bit of zip to the flavour when it’s given a good swirl, subtle lemon, hint of light spice but its a pale excuse for a witbier

Bottled. A very hazy flat orangey looking beer with a short lived fluffy head. The aroma has butterscotch and caramel which I’d expect to find in an English bitter. The taste has some lemony wheaty flavours but again that diacetyl comes through. It’s not a bad drink but doesn’t really taste like it ought to.

Pours pale orange, cloudy; brief head. Aroma was dates and bananas. Felt a bit watery. Slight sourness and a hint of bitterness. Rather fizzy, but quite refreshing.

750m Bottle. Cork couldn’t wait to get out of the bottle. Slightly hazy, straw coloured body with a decent head and rings of lacing. Soft spices on the nose and some lemon in the taste although it falls away pretty quickly, even a little watery. Easily drinkable though not very memorable or very refreshing.

25 cL bottle. Pours hazy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is floral and yeasty fruity. Sweet malty flavoured, rather floral note and perfumed. Sweet and light malty finish. Strange floral brew.

750 ml bottle. From bierzwerg.de.
Slightly cloudy golden colour with tiny white head. Yeast, caramel toffee, mild sourness and mild wheat in aroma. Sourish fruit, sweet toffee and dry wheat. Not that successful Witbier.

Bottle, from Tesco (called Finest French Wheat Beer). Hazy lemon gold, poor shortlived fizzle of white foam, soft condition. Forced candy sweetness and lemon citrus in the nose, clumsy mix of low lemon, butterscotch and corriander in the mouth none of which seem in harmony with the other flavours. Gets a little too sweet before developing a chalky dryness in the finish with a lingering spicy corriander note. Messy.

I honestly don’t know if this breweries beers are getting worse or if my palate has just called in sick and spent the day on the couch. Not the worst by a long shot, but this one sits alongside them all in the thin, watery mess stakes to barely pass as beer. Poured into it’s own chalice, quite chilled. Appearance was impressive as it turned out to be more head than beer. Surged up the spout of the glass to settle a good two inches thick and retained well to web down the sides. The body of beer was opaque and a tawny yellow in colour with fine wispy carbonation. Initially pungent and spicy, coriander, lemon, vinegar and egg aroma that was lost quickly. Similarly spicy, but more vinous and tart in the mouth with prickly carbonation that was at odds to the pasty smooth back end. Finishes off with fresh herbs with little to no aftertaste. Lemons and dull wheat flavours become pronounced but lack bounce and it’s watery, even as it warms. Simple, not unpleasant but undemanding. Average. (25cL, 08/06/06, Int’l Beer Shop, W. Leederville)

(Label says Tesco Finest French Wheat Beer) Light yellow colored, hazy appearance. Medium white head. Coriander, orange and sweetness with some yeast in aroma. Thin to medium bodied. Spices and orange with medium carbonation in flavor, aftertaste lasts with orange. Nothing special.
