3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JUN 14, 2006 Expensive and at the bottom of its style. This was marked down to $7 from $11. It is ok for 7. The beer is dark brown. There is light fruit in the aroma. Somewhat sweet, fruity malt like a dubbel; which is what I thought it was while drinking it. Highly carbonated with a strange spritzy quality.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Another bottle from Poperinge’s Quebec trip. Fluffy brown head. Thick dark brown beer. Quickly thinning head leaves strong lacing. Vinegar like aroma similar to a Flemish Brown. Lightly airy body. Flavour is a mix of brown ale and Flemish. Light chocolate notes. Some grapes and cherries a the back of the palate.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle 25cl, a dark beer with low head. Nose is malty with caramel, chocolate and licorice notes. Aroma is very sweet with caramel and brown bread notes and metallic with nutty finish, body is less complex. The beer is more a German Dunkel than any thing else, not bad just too sweet, finish is hopy and with high carbonation.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(Bottled) Clear, dark reddish color with a very small head. Sweetish, sugary-malty aroma. Sweet, syrupy, slightly nutty flavor. Medium-bodied, very light palate (especially considering the color and style). Low carbonation. Another one in the Ch’ti series with exactly the same basic aroma and flavor. Still no yeast and nowhere near the Belgian counterparts.

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Toasty malt aroma. Dark borwn, almost opaque with very shy off-white head that recedes to thin cover. Sweet lightly malty, nutty. Thin body. Ultimately forgettable. Bottle (sampled at Mondial 2004).

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Black beer in appearance, similar to a porter. The aroma is very wine orientated whereas the flavour is lightly bitter with malt and coffee elements. A reasonable beer, better than I was expecting.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Corked and caged bottle. Large fizzy tan head that was mostly lasting, fine-small sized bubbles, fair lacing, transparent, carbonated, and a reddish brown hue. Aroma was malty, caramel, and sweet and ditto for the flavor. Smooth mouthfeel. Medium body. Nicely done and worthy of a try IMMHO.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Dark brown color with a medium slightly fluffy like head. Quickly disappeared and left not noticeable lacing. Aroma was light malty with notes like caramel, toasted, spices. Maybe some hops can be detected in there as well. Body is surprisingly weak, and texture is very thin. Flavor is slightly sweet, with a light sweet finish. Not very exciting beer.
