dornoy (606), Lyngby, Denmark Dec 29, 2007 Thin head on dark brown body. I was a little skeptical, but it turned out to be anexcellent Yulebeer. I drank it with pleasure, and all guest approved.
Maria (3816), Thisted, Denmark Dec 11, 2007 The color is dark brown and the head is nice, but quickly disappearing, leaving a nice lace. The aroma is hoppy, malty and the mouthfeel is rather smooth and dry. the flavour is sweet and malty, with roasted malt. It has notes of candy sugar, coffee, port wine, dark, ripe fruits and the sweetness is sticky and cloying - far too much. The finish has light citrus, that helps a bit. FatPhil (1965), Espoo, Finland Oct 31, 2007 650ml bottle (Gallows Bird, Espoo, Winter Ales 2004)
Malty focus in aroma and taste. Mellow, slightly winey, warming. Some spice - anis? yespr (5611), Copenhagen O, Denmark Oct 7, 2007 65 cL bottle. Pours black with a huge brown head. Sweet molasses aroma, a slight bit of spice too. Medium bodied mouthfeel. Flavour is breadish at first, it then goes sweet and reveals a sweet molasses flavour. Dark malty and dry notes of raisins and plum. Underneath is soft spice flavour and a very minor yeasty note, but both appear more mellow than in a classic belgian brune. Quite nice. anders37 (2506), Malmö, Sweden May 3, 2007 Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a longlasting off-white head. Sweet malty caramel aroma with some spicy hints. Sweet malty caramel flavor with some spicy hints and hints of yeast. Sweet malty finish with caramel in the aftertaste.
