2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 YourDarkLord (1800) - Urbana, Illinois, USA - AUG 19, 2004
Pours amber with a fleeting white head. Nose is malt, fruit, sweet, spice. Smooth and lightly carbonated, medium bodied. Flavor was clean and crisp, sweet, fruity. Decent.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 thedm (4773) - Fort Wayne, USA - AUG 17, 2004
This bottled brew marked best before 11/2002 or brewed in 2002 poured a very large sized head of foamy mostly diminishing white colored bubbles that left behind no lacing at all. The body was carbonated transparent and orange in color. It had a yeast dough malt aroma. The mouth feel was tingly and faded in the finish. The flavor contained notes of barnyard malt orange peel and yeast.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 hotstuff (3340) - Indiana, USA - AUG 15, 2004
750ml. bottle. Corked and caged. Large sized white fizzy head with fine sized bubbles that fully diminished. Very fast rising carbonation, yeast, cloudy and a yellow hue. Aroma was sweet, light hops and light citrus notes. Flavor was sweet, spicy and yet very light. Tingly mouthfeel and somewhat thin and watery. Light bodied beer with no lacing. Nothing really special with this beer IMO.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 jimmack (1222) - Nutley, New Jersey, USA - JUL 19, 2004
Golden/amber color with a large white head. Unfortunately, that is the most appealing aspect of the beer. A faint yeast aroma is present. First sip is bread
and yeast followed by a slight citrus aftertaste. Not bad, but not great.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Pigfoot (2268) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUL 11, 2004
Appearance: clear, bright golden hue, with big carbonation, and a small, chalk-white head.
Aroma: a little citrusy, sour, otherwise fairly vacant.
Taste is a blend of sourness, citric fruit and more, with bits of sweetness coming through for balance. Hops are around, but not abundant, and malt is also in attendance, but lays back. Texture is good and tangy, tasty, well-received. Body, light. Flavor good, finish nice and sweet.
Overall, a fine enough ale made for everyday drinking, a table beer, perfect for simple meals, picnics, hanging around, a nice drink for the sake of drinking.
An excellent example of a Belgio-/Franco- "session ale." So I like it.
2.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Alcoholist (570) - Peoria, Illinois, USA - MAY 24, 2004
Awesome aroma of yeast, citrus and bananas. Then everything seems to fall apart, flavour is lightly citrus, bitter, earthy (in a bad way, like licking dirt). Just not on par with the other good beers that castelain produces.
2.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 SubstanceT (1092) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - MAY 22, 2004
Ya know, this thing smells just plain awesome. Banannas and esters with just a hint of yeast in the nose. However the taste does not live up to this, the body is thin and that with just the organic and flat taste is hard to get down. Clear with no head. intersting but not nearly as good as Id have likeed it to be.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 whaleman (2178) - North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 20, 2004
This beer almost scarred me for life when the cork launched itself skyward passed my face after I merely unscrewed the wire cap. Abundant, torrential carbonation and a massive, pendulous, frothy white head. Golden-yellow body. Aroma of pineapple, yeast, buttery malt, and light phenols. Delicate flavor of lemon, butter, and honey with some mild bitterness. Pairs well with seafood.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Braudog (5025) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - APR 11, 2004
Cloudy yellow-orange with thin, but standing head. A homebrewy aroma of citrus and yeast. Light herbal and spicey flavors, grassy, mildly bitter. Decent.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 argo0 (10382) - Washington DC, USA - APR 4, 2004
Clear orange with virtually no head. Aroma is mild sweet, spicy, herbal. Taste is lightly spiced, some honey, some herbal, finishing mildly herbal bitter. Light body. Unimpressive, but not bad.
