Mildly dry lemony citrus aroma. A bit woody, sweet, very light and whispy, birch tree bark and moderately dry finish with loads of setiment.

Rating #506, bottle from France. Thanks to Vivi and Flemming

This is a deep golden beer with a nice head. Aroma is ascorbic acid, sharp hops, a bit alcohol and a touch of caramel. Flavor is almost the same. Not so obvious caramel, though, but more alcohol and a mild bitter finish. Easy to drink with it’s soft, light palate. A real festival beer to be drinked in great amounts.

White head, middle lasting, golden yellox body, nice aroma: this is a bière de garde! I was a bit doubting becase of the "organic" mention on the label, but I was not disappointed! This beer (made by the same folk as the "Ch’ti") is surprisingly good! Full taste, nice aroma, hoppy aftertaste, it’s got it all!

Very boring beer. The bottle was huge and corked. For such an extravagant bottle, I expected a much better tasting beer, but alas - very boring.

Awesome aroma of yeast, citrus and bananas. Then everything seems to fall apart, flavour is lightly citrus, bitter, earthy (in a bad way, like licking dirt). Just not on par with the other good beers that castelain produces.

Brodie (540) - Blowing Rock, North Carolina, USA - OCT 17, 2003
Aroma is mostly malt - substantial caramel, with light fruitiness (the fruit smell is strong, but its light fruit). Very clear light amber, not the best head retention. Flavor matches the aroma. Actually tastes like an English pale minus the hops (very similar to the Sam Smith Winter Welcome I had yesterday). Medium body with moderate carbonation. A decent beer - lacks complexity, not really strong enough to be a biere de garde. Good session beer.

A light version of the Castelain Blonde.

Certainly not a great beer, but far from terrible. If nothing else it tasted clean and drinkable.

750 ml. Bottle. Looked like Budweiser, but smelled a little fruity. The taste was a little fruity but was very bland. The French should stick to making wine!
