On gravity at the Tuckers Maltings Beer festival, Newton Abbot 23/04/10. Near black in colour with a hint of red. Black coffee and dark fruit aroma with a hint of creaminess. Flavour had plenty of bitter chocolate, blackcurrants and a dry finish. A good, solid stout.

As Cornish Stout but as ABV matches im putting it here ... bottle at home ... dark black ... short lived tan head ... light sour nose ... woody sour notes ...vinegar ... this is well within date... but the basic label made me choose it first (just in case it migth turn but too late)... little blackcurrant fruits ... some soft chocolatre roast ... might have been good .. but not now..

Bottle. Near black with a beige foam. Aromas are light coffee with liquorice and some smokiness. Blackberry with further herbal aspects. Flavours are thin coffee with too much berry sourness. Bitter lemon with a tart citrus finish. Fairly dry. Another Castle brew which is ruined by the bottling.

500mL bottle purchased from Moor and More in Plymouth. Poured a dark black color with almost no head. I’m not sure whether this was just flat, or intended this way. The aroma and flavor both had a sweet, vinegary note, along with some good roasted malt and coffee notes. This wasn’t a great beer, but I was glad to get to try it, and add it!
