COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Occasional.
Latterly the brand was under the ownership of AB InBev and brewed under contract at Camerons. Axed by AN InBev in 2009 but reappeared as a Camerons seasonal "guest ale" for March to May 2013. Apparently now under the ownership of a company called Limelight Brands Limited, which has a link with Camerons through a common director.

It’s back! A North East classic now available as a guest ale throughout March and April via Camerons Brewery. Castle Eden Ale is a light, creamy golden ale with a late addition of Styrian Goldings hops giving it an interesting contrast between an initial sweet surge of flavour followed by a slightly bitter aftertaste.

Absolutely fabulous. Suited my palate to a tee. All my favourites were in the mouth. Butter, fudge, molasses. Dry finish. Very creamy/oily palate. Extremely drinkable indeed.

Gravity @ The Battered Beer Festival. Copper coloured. This is how to use Marris Otter - good caramel and toffee and raspberry and apples and autumn hedgerows. One brilliant ale - full of assorted juicy flavours. Very moreish, very smooth and drinkable. Parma violets and pear drops in aroma. All malt. The finish is empty with just the merest hint of hop. A decent ale indeed.

Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Murky, muddy gold with a small white head. Sweet aroma, almost perfume. Sweet, fruity pear and apple peel taste. Pleasant late bitterness. I really liked this.

(nitro can)caramel and toffee aroma, earthy. Nitro can gives it that classic bubbly pour with a thick creamy head. Creamy mouthfeel, combined with a sweet flavour, some roasty malts. A solid english pint. There was a metallic aftertaste that was probably due to the can sitting around for awhile.

Cask Handpump. Very very very lively! Cloudy orange appearance, thick and silky on the palate. Scent is malty dough but in the mouth it is slightly bitter, with a slightly smoked hoppiness. Simple and refreshing.

A found much the same aromas and tastes that Silk Tork describes - apples & pears, berries & violets. Low hop profile, but very complex palate. However, felt that the overall effect was rather marred by the overly soft and short finish. Still a nice beer though. Cask (gravity), Battersea Beer Festival.
