Aroma is sweet thin corn aroma and slight saaz hoppish scent. Flavor is light, a bit metallic and corny. Overall, decent lager. yarry (370), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada Aug 25, 2006 450ml can, 5.0% a/v
Generously carbonated golden beer with a large loose white head. Corn smell with some malt as well. The taste is also corn with a "blah" aftertaste. Not an amazing aftertaste but nothing special either.
Pretty good beerfor summer work as said by Ross. CanadaCam (109), Canada Aug 6, 2006 From the can. Very little aroma. Pours a medium-golden colour with a nice thick, creamy head. Unfortunately, there is no retention. Slight corn taste and a little too fizzy, but otherwise a smooth lager. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA Aug 5, 2006 Can from Len, thanks dude. Straight from the can. I noticed when Len sent my box that he sent me some beers that would go great while working outside, so here was one of them. Taste is sharp and hoppy, no hint of alcohol. Very easy to drink, served very cold. Interesting beer, the first I’ve ever had from Africa. Thanks Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Jul 27, 2006 Pretty bland lager overall. Pale gold color, fizzy small head. Aroma is corn, dms, vegetable, light herbal hops. Flavor is light cracker malt flavor, light pils, herbal and light earthy hops. Metallic and slightly skunky. austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA Jul 25, 2006 This beer is everywhere in S. Africa, and so I felt compelled to try it. Yes, it’s a typical international lager akin to Budweiser in many respects. The difference is, you get to enjoy Castle Lager in Cape Town, S. Africa. Straw flavors and a light golden color. Corny adjuncts. piscator34 (1121), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Jul 17, 2006 Canned sample. Straw gold in colour with high carbonation. Aromas are of sweet pale malt, and a little bit of herbal German noble hop. The flavors are of very lightly toasted grains, minerals, Golden Deliscious applem and a bit of cherry pit. Watery body. Overall, it tastes like a low end European macro pils, but at least it finishes fairly clean and didn’t taste like corn.
