1.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 theSlipperyPen (213) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 3, 2010
Light golden beer with a artificial white head that’s quick to hollow out. Nose is of sugar and sweat. In the mouth it’s lightly malty but mainly just uniformed sweet and sulfuric. Mouth feel is thin and fizzy like a cola. Unpleasant chemical finish. Pretty damn terrible, indeed.

I believe the version of this I tried was brewed in Tanzania and not South Africa. For Castle Milk Stout, the South African and Tanzanian versions are combined though so I will just put my rating in here and not make a fuss about it. I tried this on two separate occasions. On one, it might have been the best beer I tried in Tanzania (which is not saying all that much, frankly) but the other it was kind of metallic and nasty. I will focus on the good one. It’s a nice, mild, pilsner-like pale lager. The hops are reserved but definitely there and it was overall very clean and very drinkable. Of the several lagers I tried in Tanzania, this was probably the closest to Pabst or other American lagers and also my favorite.

330ml bottle. Very clear and bright amber colouyr witha soft crown of loose white bubbles that rapidly collapse. Strong malt aroma that is bland and matches the flavour. Dry in the throat and is typical of a standard pale lager.

Bottle at Delirium. Pours a clear golden color with a medium white head. A smooth nose of sweet grains and light spicy hops. The flavor is so simple there is nothing to dislike; sweet malts, grainy. Nondescript.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 bmeup (418) - Ormeau, AUSTRALIA - JUL 31, 2010
Crystal clear pale yellow, quite lively and head remains intact. Aroma of fruity hops & grains of amlt & corn. Easy drinker in really hot weather and quite pleasant as far as lagers go.
