1.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20 DerBiermeister (586) - Birmingham, USA - MAR 29, 2004
The aroma is metallic and musty. The appearance is thin and very watery. Actually, when I poured it, it really looked like yellow carbonated water. The head was large at first, but quickly began to subside. On the lighter side, not only does this beer look untasty, it also tastes untasty. It is actually not terrible. The thing to remember is, as Samuel L. Jackson in 'Pulp Fiction' postulated, 'Personality goes a long way'. This beer does not have personality. Therefore, this beer does not go a long way. Sure, it came from Africa, so geographically speaking it did, but not in the broader, more ontological sense of taste and the exertion of reality. Screw it. I don't even know what I'm saying anymore. I probably won't get this beer again any time soon. In this beer's thinness, it is to me reminiscent of the Mexican beers Pacifico Clara or Tecate. However, I would prefer either of this thin Mexican beers as thirst quenchers to this African beer here. I would also prefer to go to Mexico than Africa. That has nothing to do with the beer.

I am not a great lager/pilsner fan, but this was OK.
Brown 750ml bottle, from Morrison’s supermarket, best before 2007, drank in March 2007.
Poured into two Hoegaarden Grand Cru tulip glasses, looks like a lager. Clear golden yellow, straw blonde when held up to the light. Large white head straight after the pour, soon dispersed to almost nothing.
Lagers don’t really have much aroma to my thinking, this was no different, a slight hoppy, wheaty, nothingy smell.
Crisp dry taste, hops are in there, not a bad taste, thirst quenching in my opinion.
Watery mouthfeel, but this is a lager, what do you expect? It holds it’s hop flavour and dryness.
This is not a great beer, but it was just what I needed this evening, something light to go with a salad meal. I have no problems with it and would be happy to have another if asked, wouldn’t buy another, but I’d drink one!
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Metalchopz (1427) - Quebec, CANADA - APR 16, 2012
Originally rated December 2002. Lightly golden with good white head. Medium hop scent, smooth mouthfeel and thin bodied. Bitter taste with light dry finish. Nice refreshing beer, but still was expecting more from this one.

Draught at a nice lunchtime spot in the Cape. This is a golden coloured bog standard lager with a slightly sweet taste. Quite drinkable, just bland.

Bottle bought in Johannesburg. Light yellow colour with a tiny white head. Light malt and hoppy aroma. Very typical industrial mild lager beer. Mild hoppy and malt flavour.

500ml can pours pale golden with a small white head. Aroma is light malt and hops. Taste is light malty sweet with undesirable cheap hop bitterness. Just a typical lager, nothing special.
