2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Draught. Clear golden pour, thin white head. Aroma of grainy malts, slightly metallic. Flavor is slightly bitter, a bit grainy. Boring pilsener and a bit off.

1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
33 cl bottle @ Kasteel de Breckt, Baarlo.
Pours clear golden color with a large head. Again very typical grassy lager, maybe some starch notes and toffee on the flavor.

1.4 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 10/20
Beautiful foamy lager with good aromas of malt and hops. The taste is usual for a lager, although this has little more sweet malt flavor than usual. Hop bitterness is sporadic and has only a light floral aftertaste that fades into a dry aftertaste where hops bitterness unfortunately dying out. As a thirst quencher it is excellent, but on the whole it is not sensational.

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Tasted from bottle. Pours a clear gold with white head. Not much aroma. Some mild notes of caramel and grains. Taste is moderate sweet. Pretty smooth on the palate. Flavors of caramel, biscuits, and a little skunky notes but overall for a macro above average.

0,33l Flasche. Helles Gelb, wenig Schaum. Sehr dünner leicht hopfig-säuerlicher Geschmack. Schmeckt zu gegrilltem Fleisch in Südafrika, sonst eher nicht!

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle purchased from a South African store in Southfields, near Wimbledon’s Lawn Tennis Association. Biltong and meat and spices for the Braai all available at the store, as well as a small selection of beers and rather more South African wines. This is a typical golden-coloured lager. Not bad as a thirst quencher, with a slightly sweet malt taste and a mild bitterness. I hint of rosemary in the flavour, giving it a little bit of individuality. Not bad for an industrial lager.

First beer ever tasted when emigrated to SA in 1972 at the time it was 25c a bottle. Is available in England from time to time, never in Scotland. Not as good as the offers from Namibian breweries also owned by SAB Miller. Gues the Namibians learnt well from the Germans.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Old rating, bottle at the student pub. Better than many of the African macro lagers. Not a favourite style but decent for the style

1 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20
Can purchased in Malawi as a change from the local beers. Looks like beer but tastes like bubbly corn water. No aroma. Any malt or hops are well hidden behind corn and soap. Not very pleasant. I may just turf it in favor of the local rot gut gin as a night cap...

330ml bottle @ Shrewsbury Beer Share, May 15, courtesy of myself. Pours clear gold. Sweetish euro-lager taste. Inoffensive palette cleanser.
