Choice barley grain is slow roasted to produce a rich dark brew. A unique blend of hops adds a touch of bitterness and a special yeast fixes the unmistakable flavor and creamy head.
Also comes in a license brewed version by Tanzania Breweries, Pabod Breweries in Nigeria and in Vietnam by SAB’s subsidiary in Da Nang.

Not much of an aroma, and the body is a touch thin for a sweet stout, yet the lacto-sweetness is pleasant. Not particularly roasty or burnt or all that complex. A simple, watery session stout that doesn't require you to ponder its depths.

Deep brown color with a tan head. Smells like soy soy sauce. Perhaps some chocolate undertones.

Poured black with a brownish hue and a light tan head that quickly diminished. A soy sauce nose with hints of chocolate. The flavor is also of soy with hints of chocolate milk and an espresso aftertaste.

(Canned) A "light stout". Smooth and pleasant flavour but a bit too thin and one-dimensional. Unfortunately, I found the maize evident in the aroma.

Coffee. That is what this smells and tastes like. A nice dark roast from the dark continent. I went into this one thinking it would be the stout equivalent of Castle lager and I was pleasantly disappointed. Not quite the Lacto-Stout that Hitachino produces but still, not a bad one to have if you're wanting to take a break from the everyday stout ... Guinness. No head, thick black (reminiscent of a Xingu)and mildly entertaining.

Bottle. Mostly black in color with a diminished brown head. Some roasted coffee aroma but not very strong. I was expecting another odd foreign stout, but this one wasn't bad. Not a lot of richness but reasonably balanced and smooth.

Black color; good head, beige, creamy. Aroma of roasted malts, a bit oxidised; metallic too. Some milky roasted malt flavor not deep, with some oxidisation. Medium bitterness. Stale.

2005-02-12, can, 6-3-6-3-12=30
Very dark beer. The aroma shows more the roasted malt and the malt than the coffee. The flavor has malt, roasted malt, caramel, liquorice; soft, quite good.

2002-09-10, can, 2-4-4-3-10=23
Black colour, big head, thick. Almost no aroma, just a little metallic. Some sweetness and roasted malt bitterness, no character.

Pours medium size, carbonated, dark brown head. Extremely dark brown color - almost black. Medium nose of coffee, sweet/burnt malt and honeysuckle flower notes. Thin/light palate and taste. Pretty carbonated for a stout leading to crispness on the palate. Flavors of coffee mixed with alot of milk, thus making a very light flavored stout, with a touch of powdered chocolate sweetness. Overall a very light and one dimensional stout.
