Choice barley grain is slow roasted to produce a rich dark brew. A unique blend of hops adds a touch of bitterness and a special yeast fixes the unmistakable flavor and creamy head.
Also comes in a license brewed version by Tanzania Breweries, Pabod Breweries in Nigeria and in Vietnam by SAB’s subsidiary in Da Nang.

Dark color with a off white head. The taste is sweet with light chocolate notes. Smooth mouthfeel but rather thin and boring.

Stout beer, black in color, good head, VERY good aroma. Glides down your throat like guinness, but is very differnt taste wise. Despite all the good things about this beer, i would never buy one again. Horrible aftertaste, and lingering stench if you get it on your hands.

Suprisingly good stout from the stable of SAB. Looks like Guinness, but very different to Irish Stout. Very sweet, and unrefined, but a good thirst quencher. A sour after taste with very subtle mochachino flavour! A fairly creamy beer, which when chilled glides down the throat! Again the only stout brewed locally!

(Jul 04) Light flowery hop aroma, with roasted malt notes of coffee and chocolate. Creamy, light brown head above a black liquor. Body is light, thin and creamy, only lightly sweet and slightly bitter in the short finish.

Some friends who just got back from South Africa brought me back a can of this. Expected reddish black body with roasted aroma and a very nice dark brown head. Which pretty much stayed through the whole slowly sipped glass. The mouthfeel was very silky, but only after you got through almost too much carbonation (for the style) for my liking. Nice roasted and chocolate flavours with a very unique hop kick at the end. A little thicker and less carbonated and this would be very good - as is, a nice surprise and an enjoyable gift.

A treat for me I haven’t had to many milk stouts. The beer reminded me a bit like Guinness draught with a slight lactose flavor. Very hard to find in Cali. But fun to drink and share with friends

(Bottle) Pours a dark brown color with a medium-sized tan head. Malt and caramel aroma. Sweet molasses, yeast, hops, and rosated barley flavor. Creamy palate. The best South African beer I have sampled.

Chocolate beige coloured head sits atop a black body before disappearing into the glass. A swirl of the glass allows it to sneak back to the forefront like unwanted memories creeping into an idle mind. Slight metallic notes in the aroma with hints of nutty chocolate. Palate is pleasantly smooth but has the thin watery emptiness of unrequited love, while the flavours have a kind of self indulgent sweetness and hints of mocha speckled throughout. A surprisingly good beer that traveled a circuitous path to make it to my glass.

Thanks for sharing this with me Jeremy. Starts with a thin tan head and a chocolatey nose. The colour is an opaque black. Initially bitter with coffee notes, but gets much sweeter as it warms up. Kind of one dimensional then with a milky mouthfeel and quite sweet. Not bad, but not worth much of an effort to acquire.
