3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Fin (5749) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, - FEB 19, 2008
Cask, gravity at Merton Winter Beer Festival Feb’ 08 Pour’s clear golden with nice white bubbles atop. Malts on the nose along with some wispy traces of hop. Crisp refreshing beer with good interplay between sweet malts and the citrus hop. Tasty and moreish, nice and fruity, drying at the end.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 RPillsbury (115) - Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, ENGLAND - APR 1, 2008
Cask at the Kean’s Head, Nottingham. Castle Rock just keeps churning out better and better beers. This is no exception. A beer with a lovely malt and honey aroma, I found Grebe to be very flavourful and perfectly balanced. It was refreshing but also comforting with the malty flavours. As part of the wildlife series of 2008, it will only be available for February. Shame.

Cask in Blackfriars. Aroma is hoppy, fresh and citrus, honey pale malt backing. Taste is similar, very tasty and drinkable, sold out in record time so never even got the chance to drink a full pint!

Gravity, Merton Winter Beer Festival. Light gold, bit of white head. Attractive honey aroma with a herbal touch. All on nice piece of good crusty white bread. Slightly under-ripe peach flavor, delicate but satisfying honey malt. Really refreshing and no skimping on the flavor volume.

Cask conditioned at Merton Winter Beer Festival ’08. Pale gold with white head. Light malty hoppy beer, fresh crisp and bitter. Lemony hoppy, dry grapefruit if a touch thin. Lovely refreshing dry bitter with a long palate cleansing finish. I do enjoy these Castle Rock hoppy session beers.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 albertane (378) - Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, ENGLAND - FEB 16, 2008
Cask at the Kean’s Head, Nottingham. This beer in Castle Rock’s "wildlife" series is a clear golden colour and has a delightful malty aroma. The flavour is mainly rich, sweet malt with a touch of citrus hop bitterness and a lingering fruity finish. I found it very moreish and, at 4.2% ABV, it proved to be an excellent session beer.
