COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular.
Originally one of the 12 ‘Natural Selection’ brews back in October 2008 to support the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust’s Adopt a Species Campaign, it immediately won the Society of Independent Brewers (Midlands) Supreme Champion Beer award at the Robin Hood Beer Festival and followed this success by winning the SIBA National Strong Bitter Title. Brewed to export strength this strong well hopped India Pale Ale has become a firm favourite with followers of the style.

Pops MacDrunkeasys birthday lunch, The Merchant, Rugby. Hop greenery and bitter orange tang. Lingering floury biscuit paleness and peanut. Hop sting edging towards IPA territory, but maybe not quite as aromatic as I like it. Punchy, approachable, not very lacy Indian Golden Ale.

Vat and fiddle, Nottingham. A lovely pint, good abc and nice and tasty. A juiced up harvest pale with taste and bite. Perfect as a pre match pint when time is limited.

Off tap at the maze nottingham. Light amber with a lasting head. Pleasant hop aroma but much more in the taste. Very nice cask ipa.

On cask (handpump) at Great British Beer Festival, day 3 on 6 August 2009. At last! At a festival with a seemingly endless procession of rather uninspiring golden ales, here one with some pizzazz. Chutzpah even. Bright & clear with a modest head and lively condition. Fresh, fruity aroma. Clean flowery hops. Good firm mouthfeel with a sharp, hoppy bite. Enough body and punch to give it some gravitas without compromising the excellent drinkability.

Cask (Live&Let Live, Cambridge)
6 Not much aroma beyond the slight citrus lemon cleaning fluid.
3 Pale orange, small head.
6 Simple hoppy bitter, citrussy and fresh.
4 Soft palate, carbonation low. Zesty finish, very lemony.
13 Fresh tasty sessionalbe golden bitter. My notes said 3.8%, but I clearly got that very wrong. Make no mistake - this felt very sessionable.

Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival. Loads of beers shared with ChrisO and Harrisoni - Cheers! Clear gold beer, residual white head. Light semi dry palate, mildly fruity. Should have taken more notes but this beer proved it’s drinkability because I sunk it whilst jawing!

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2011 Cask. The Canalhouse, Nottingham. Thin white head, clear amber body. Citrus, hops, grapefruit. Sweet, with bitter notes. Dry finish. To me this tasted rather like a stronger, sweeter version of Harvest Pale. 6 3 6 2 13 Rerate The Font, Leicester. Medium white head, gold body. Aromatic hoppy yeast, tangerine. Tangy bitterness with a dry finish. 6 3 6 3 12

Cask: Pale golden to golden, creamy and lacy white head; moderate to solid fruity (lemons) and bitter-hoppy nose with a light "woody" touch; light to moderate bitter-sweet flavour, almost medium bodied; slightly lingering fruity (lemons) and pale-malty finish with a light hoppy aftertaste. Not great, but of solid quality......

Cask/handpump at the Questors (Ealing) mini beer festival. Dark gold with a clingy small white head. The nose is sweetish, with notes of melon and ginger. Then the fruity full body has a good alcohol bite with hints of pumpkin, and it finishes with a good peppery dry-bitter aftertaste. Tasty and smooth.

Cask, Rook and Gaskill, York. Clear golden colour with a decent white head. Nose had some grassy hop, citrus and sweet malt. Clean and crisp fruity taste that was well hopped . Smooth and very drinkable. Pretty good.
