COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular. Previously 3.5%
A ‘supping’ bitter with a distinctive hop character derived from Goldings. Slightly darker than the Nottingham Gold beer which it has replaced. Currently brewed for us by Tower Brewery in Burton on Trent whilst we plan the expansion of the Castle Rock site in the centre of Nottingham.

Cask conditioned, gravity dispensed at Harbury Beer Fest ’10. Gold to amber with white head. This tasted a little undeveloped, there is a raw greengage note, floral and perfumed, dryish and a bit green. Not that enjoyable.

Cask - The Trafford Arms, Norwich. A clear amber bodied beer with a fine but somewhat lasting & lacing white to off-white head. Caramel & some biscuit but both really quite subtle with a hint of sulphur in terms of aromas. Caramel & cardboard on the tongue & a hint of plastic too. Lightish body, some carbonation with a short, dryishing grassy, toasty bitterness.

UPDATED: DEC 23, 2011 Cask (handpump) at the Southampton Arms on 3 December 2010. Gold but not great. Fairly standard, quite light coloured bitter. Some caramel. Probably suffered by being drunk immediately after the Moor Southern Star but this seemed rather under-hopped. Flagged for re-rate. Why on earth is this brewed at Tower?

RE-RATE: Cask (handpump) at the Trafford Arms, Norwich on 1 December 2011. Noted at 3.4%. Much better nick than when previously tasted. Dark amber colour. Fairly traditional style bitter. Rather fruity. Fairly tasty for the ABV. Not particularly my type of beer but quite well done.

Cask. Spicy, malty nose, copper, small tan head and some lace. Flavour is quite malty, spice is subtle, more of a treacle quality now. Medium bodied, very well balanced, lots of oomph for a 3.5, these real ales are so fine. Terrific offering.

Brewed by Tower? WTF?? Cask handpull, The Victoria, Rugby. Good beer but soo watery. Tea, caramel and faint grassy hop with vanilla and popcorn for dessert. Tawny gold with a solid collar of foam lacing tenaciously. Slight sickbowl orange aroma with cask and even alcohol notes. Malted milk crumbs and sweet bready afters. Won me over once the hop joy of the Atomic stuff had faded.
