COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Special - November 2009.
With a roast malt aroma this warming brew delivers initally a bitter taste that mellows on the palate.

Cask (handpump) at Pigs Ear Beer Festival, 3 December 2009. Attractive dark ruby colour. Some roasty notes in the aroma. Just a hint of diacetyl but not too intrusive. Fairly dry. Some chocolate. Firm but relatively light mouthfeel. Nods towards several styles but probably closest to a porter.

Cask gravity at Pig’s Ear BF 09. Very dark ruby, thin disappearing beige head. Bit of diacetyl, bit of fruit. Dicetyl doesn’t kill it. Bit of ginger nut biscuit. Biscuit finish, decent balance frutiy juicy roast.

Cask conditioned handpump Vat & Fiddle Nottingham. This is of those beers that some would call a porter and some a stout. For the record I had it down as a stout but the online reference I found for it calls it a porter. It’s not really that important as whatever you call it I call it a damn fine beer. It’s black with a thick whitish head, to be expected as it was sparkled. Slightly sweet and smoky in the aroma. Fruity and malty in the mouth with good roastiness and full on bitterness. Really tasty.
