thesimmos (13), Brisbane, Australia May 1, 2008 It does taste like a refined XXXX bitter with a hint of extra alcohol. like someone has put a little vodka in the beer or something.
When you have a few of these make sure you dont drink 4-6 without standing up in between. They are very smooth and It wouldnt be a problem drinking them this easily. But when you stand up you will stumble and run into a wall head first. Worth a try.... fourxmate (10), Australia Jun 7, 2007 I expected better but was not too dissapointed. Tastes like a more refined XXXX Bitter. Above average for the money but falls well short of premiums. pyrotim2000 (13), Australia Oct 26, 2006 Updated: Oct 2, 2007I don’t know enough about beer to know how to explain it. I did like this brew and found it good value for money. beer_ledgend (796), Meadowbank Auckland, New Zealand Aug 20, 2006 Gee must be hard on this one.
Clear gold colour, slighlty darker than younger brother, xxx bitter.
Just how special it is, you tell me. Just as watery, oderless and weak as xxxx bitter with extra malt. BrewBoy15 (1), Umina, Australia does not count Jan 19, 2006 Initial taste was a rich, malty lager - definitely a close relation of XXXX Bitter, but much more robust. Not a very sweet beer, everything was at the back of the tongue, with the bitterness intensifying after going down. Unlike other premium beers, no real herbacious notes, and even the aroma was very similar to your every day lagers. Quite ’syrupy’ - like a richer version of XXXX Bitter. The premium you have when you’re not having a premium.
